December 1, 2007Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Have you parents ever noticed that when your children are whining and complaining it is a drain on your peace?
Certainly, it is not at this particular time do you decide to take them out for ice cream
The Christian life is a microcosm of what is in heaven. God has made us in His image and one of the ways He has done that is to set up the family structure with the children’s relationship to the parents as representative of the parent’s relationship to God.
So then when we tell our children, if you do what I tell you, if you will obey, your life will be so pleasant. God tells us the same thing and unfortunately, sometimes like children, we don’t get the message.
The secret of acquiring God’s blessings is the same as we require of our children.
Pleasant children get the ice cream, simple. Remember the Israelites? They wandered around that wilderness for forty years just whining and complaining and none of them except Joshua and Caleb entered into the Promised Land.
God would give them all kinds of miracles and blessings and just like selfish children, the minute they were tested, they failed miserably.
When you wake up in the morning and hopefully, you have your devotion time, do you begin by bombarding God with a million requests for the day? Do you whine about not having enough sleep? No money, no this or that?
If I met up with you in that frame of mind I wouldn’t want to listen to you at all. If our children acted that way when they first woke up I would send them back to their room. How much more do you think God will put up with your nonsense?
On the other hand, if we bless Him in the morning and tell Him we love Him and thank Him for all He does I know the result will be much better for us. The Bible says, Psa 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
The Bible says, 2Ch 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.
How is your heart for God today? Are you one of His own pleasant children? His eyes will be looking for you, ready to bless, to teach, to raise up.
Let us focus on how we can be a blessing to our heavenly Father and to please Him daily.
