So the boils were hurting so much I went to the hospital. They said the room was p3,500 per day and I would be there about three days. We were gullible enough to believe that was total cost—I KNOW< I KNOW ! Anyway we then hear it will be about 38,000 pesos (about $750 u.s.d)
We were there 4 days and they never changed the sheets. The operation went well and the surgeon was great.I went in with pain and left with pain. Their “medications” do not work.
Anyway, the Bill comes and it is 100,00 pesos (1,791.93) I was shocked beyond belief. We told them we don’t have the money can we give a promissory note and pay each month. They said no, you need to go to the Government for help. Your husband can stay here when you go. So my wife went and they needed some more paperwork so I said let’s go home.
They were actually screaming in the halls trying to stop us. They said we could not leave until the bill was paid. I thought this was stopped in the Philippines years ago, but I was wrong.
They did not provide a wheelchair and I had to walk down four flights of stairs. I was unstable on my feet. Downstairs there was others yelling and screaming that we had to stay. We continued to go to the parking lot but when we went for the exit, they blocked my car. A lot of yelling especially by the owner. I guess when we came, they saw I was white and had a big fish. Little did they know I am a missionary with no salary.
It was at this time they started talking promissory notes which was our desire from the beginning. We have been here 17 years and never had cheated anyone.
My wife is now looking for help from the Government.
It made me wonder, do we only suffer when we sin? I don’t remember doing anything extreme. Then I thought of Job and though I don’t compare, his suffering seemed to come out of left field. How about all the disciples who were martyred? Then I was resolved to say the will of God is that perfect will and although I moaned, grimaced and twinged, I was always able to say that God had his good purpose and he is a good God. No regrets.
I went to Church Sunday. I taught the Bible Study and preached the sermon and stood most of the time.
God gave me a appreciation, more than ever , to be in Church. He certainly gave me an appreciation of being healthy and although there is still pain, it’s becoming less and less. He also gave me an appreciation of all my Brothers and sisters who rallied in prayer. PRAISE GOD!
EDUCATIONAL MINISTRY CONTINUES
We had five more student who received Jollibee meals for 85 average and above and three who received p100 each for 80 average and above.
These incentives really encourage good grades among the kids.
Two of out College students will graduate this year. Genesis who will be a Filipino teacher and Kyle who wil be a Seaman. Praise God for these accomplishments.
That will wrap up this month with enough excitement to last. God bless our wonderful supporters. May you be blessed is all ways.
