Redeeming The Time

Redeeming the Time means recognizing that every day is a gift from God and consciously using our time for things that honor Him. Because life is short and opportunities pass quickly, Christians should seek to live wisely, serve faithfully, share the Gospel, and invest in eternal things.

Many Christians in wealthier countries face a constant battle against distraction. They are surrounded by amusement parks, world-famous attractions, endless entertainment, restaurants, theaters, museums, sporting events, and countless other activities competing for their attention. While none of these things are necessarily wrong in themselves, they can easily consume the time and energy that could be devoted to the things of God.

In many ways, when it comes to distractions, we have it much easier.

Our greatest attraction is the church. Our greatest entertainment is the fellowship of God’s people. Our joy comes from serving together in the Lord’s work. We find

fulfillment in reaching our community with the Gospel, feeding the hungry, teaching children, encouraging families, and helping those in need. These things bring a satisfaction that no amusement park or worldly attraction can provide.

Of course, we also enjoy wholesome recreation. We may occasionally spend time at the pool, hold a sports event in the park, or enjoy fellowship with friends and family. Yet even during these activities, we often find opportunities to meet new people, build relationships, and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What others may view merely as recreation becomes another opportunity to serve the Lord and reach souls.

As we think about Paul’s exhortation to be “redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16), let us thank God for the unique opportunities He has given us. Rather than lamenting what we do not have, we can rejoice in the blessings we do have: a church family that loves one another, meaningful service in God’s work, and the privilege of seeing lives changed through the Gospel.

The world offers many distractions, but God has given us something far greater. He has given us purpose, fellowship, and the joy that comes from serving Christ together. Let us continue to redeem the time and make every opportunity count for His glory.

Teach the Children

We are thankful that Linda has stepped up to the plate and begun tutoring our children alongside Kisha. Together, they faithfully teach morning and afternoon classes from Tuesday through Friday.

It is a blessing to see our children growing in knowledge and understanding. Their dedication is making a real difference, and we are grateful for the investment they are making in the lives of these young people. Please continue to pray for both the teachers and the children as they learn and grow each day.

Blessings from Canada

Our friends in Canada recently sent additional funds to help provide food packs for the poor.

They have been faithful for many years in remembering the poor of Payatas, and we are deeply grateful for their continued love and generosity.

We recently received another box from other friends in Canada filled with clothing, shoes, kitchenware, and many other useful items.

It is such a blessing to know that others are thinking of us and caring for the needs of our ministry and community. Their generosity is a wonderful reminder of the love and fellowship that exists among God’s people, even across great distances.

We are sincerely grateful for their kindness and support. Please join us in thanking the Lord for friends who faithfully give and pray for the work being done here.

Baptisms and Membership

We are delighted to welcome Gisannie, who has chosen to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in baptism and become a member of our church family. We also warmly welcome her daughter, Akia, who is 8 years old and has already become a great joy and blessing to us.

We would also like to congratulate Jhovan, age 10, who recently trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. It is always a wonderful blessing to see young hearts respond to the Gospel.

Both Gisannie and Jhovan are scheduled to be baptized on September 6th, and we rejoice in the work God is doing in their lives. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue to grow in their faith and walk with the Lord.

Laura’s New Job and Transportation Needs

We are thankful that Laura has begun working at Miriam College. While this is an exciting opportunity, it has also brought some challenges. Without a car, her daily commute requires approximately two hours each way, making for a very long day. In addition to her work at the college, Laura also teaches private music lessons, which often means traveling home late in the evening.

We lend her our car whenever possible, but doing so can interfere with the daily responsibilities and ministry activities that also require transportation.

After much consideration, Laura is exploring the possibility of purchasing a vehicle of her own.

Although the monthly payments would consume nearly half of her salary, she believes owning a car is necessary and is willing to make that commitment.

. However, she must first raise approximately $2,000 for the down payment.

We would greatly appreciate your prayers as Laura seeks the Lord’s guidance and provision in this matter. Please pray that God would open the right doors, provide for her needs, and give wisdom in every decision. We trust that He is faithful and will direct her path.

A Need for Better Housing

Over the years, we have invested a great deal of our own time, effort, and resources into improving the house where we live. While many repairs have been successful, some problems continue to be beyond our ability to fully resolve.

We are conbattling termites that are damaging the wood supporting portions of the ceiling,

We continue to patch a roof that never seems to stop leaking.

Although we love living here and are thankful for what God has provided, maintaining the house has become increasingly difficult.

We would greatly appreciate your prayers as we seek the Lord’s direction regarding our housing situation. Please pray that God would provide a safe and more suitable home for us in His perfect timing. While we are grateful for our present home and the memories we have made here, the ongoing repairs have become more than we can reasonably manage.

We trust that the Lord knows our needs and will faithfully guide us to the place He has prepared.

AUGUST 2026 UPDATE

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

I wonder if we depend on God as much as we should. When I write a sermon, I acknowledge it is He who gives me the words. When I write a newsletter, again, it is He who gives me the words.
When finances are low, I ask Him, and He provides others to supply our needs.
He may not do it all at once and that’s because, with great abundance, there tends to be less dependence on Him.
When you need something, trust in the Lord. Ask Him, and He will deliver and guide you in the way you should go.

A Month of Blessing

Laura’s students and their parents came and brought groceries, lunch, food, toys, clothes and more!

It was the Reyes father’s birthday, so they wanted to bless the PBC Kids.

Feeding Ministry
One of our supporters gave a monetary gift towards the feeding ministry.

We were able to buy 50 pounds of rice, vegetables and more!

Church renovations

Although it’s a small church, we try to keep it up.
Our young people have made new benches recently and yesterday, they put foam and vinyl on the seats. They look good and feel comfortable.

We made a large storage bench upstairs, they put down carpet squares on the floor for the kids’ comfort. They recovered the piano bench and fixed up an old desk.

Upstairs. They really work together well.

Our 20th Year in the Ministry

It seems like only yesterday that we were at L.A. Airport waiting to board the plane to Manila. Laura was 4 and Linda was 6 months old, and we carried her in a basket.
Now 20 years later, on this day (21st), here we are.
It has been the best 20 years of our lives.
Serving God is always a blessing.
Our official Church anniversary will be the first week in November.

HAPPY 250th BIRTHDAY AMERICA

God has really been patient with us for a quarter of a century.
I think back to the days of my grandparents and remember how much better it was.
When I was a kid, it was terrible if someone was living together outside of marriage. Homosexuality was something no one talked about.
Today, however, people do the most disgusting things and right out in the open. They even have pride parades. The Bible says pride cometh before the fall.
Are these the last days? Is the fall upon us?
Socialists seem to be taking over political positions. It doesn’t seem like we will ever have an honest election.
There is however, a light at the end of the tunnel. We do not have to fear or fret.
Jesus will come back and with Him will come total peace.
So enjoy our birthday. Remember the wonderful days gone by and look forward to the coming of the King!

EDUCATION

Thanks to our supporters, we were able to pay for the school supplies needed. The smiles on the kids’ faces make it all worthwhile.

As you know , Laura passed her board exam. She started working at the Merriam school teaching music. She has to teach for one year and then return for her Masters so she can become a College Professor.

Linda has decided to be a missionary in Payatas,She is running the Payatas Surge program an outreach to the youth https://www.facebook.com/PBCYOUTHSURGE She is also handling the Photos,videos and publicity for the Church.

Prayer needs

Continue to pray for our compound.
Also, Sister Christie was just hospitalized for high sugar. She is out now but pray she watches her diet.

Pray for Robern Rubinos and he has uncontrollable arm movements.

Pray for Shenir with back pain as well as Linda with back pain (Scoliosis).

If I come to mind, pray for me. Sometimes my neuropathy in my feet is very painful. I am unbalanced (especially when I just wake up) and with my sugar, I keep dreaming about Dunkin’ Donuts. Pray for my ability to resist!

School bells ring and children sing it’s back to Robert Hall again… Actually this was a song that my mother sang as she was so happy she was finally going to get some time of peace while we kids were back in school. Anyone remember that Jingle?

We are singing here at PBC too, that “Our” kids are returning to school with the tools they need to do a good job.
We had a lot of school supplies left over from last year. We were $200 short so we had to take the money from the college fund so no child will do without.
It would be nice if you want to donate so we can replace that money.

We go out every Saturday with the entire Church to hand out tracts and to engage the people in conversation about Salvation.
We were running out of tracts and I could not find our supplier so Linda and I designed a tract. We ordered 5,000 for $200! Then I found our supplier that sends them for free. She is sending me 10,000.
We don’t use many tracts as I encourage our people to give a tract and engage in Conversation. I feel like it’s the best way to give the message.

Laura Passed her board Exam
It’s official. Laura is a bona fide teacher! Thousands failed the first time. We are so proud of her!

Our College Students

Two of our college students will be graduating in August.
Jessa wil be graduating as a Math major and Shenir will be graduating as a Political Science major. she will now begin law school.

Rosalyn will be graduating soon as a mechanical engineer.
thanks to our supporters our Students not only have a good Christian background but a good education to boot!

One of our supporters sent money so that our children can eat for a few weeks. Thank God for our supporters. May God mightily bless them.

We are still praying for a bigger place. It’s really getting crowded here. When I think about how much we do with so little , I can only imagine what a larger place could do.

As the little ones turn 16 they are asked to join the Church and attend our evening Bible studies so we are squeezing in to make room for them.

We ask for help all the time. Not because we are making a large stockpile but because we can really use it.

We started this ministry 20 years ago with about $550 per month for home and Church
We are up to about $1,500 per month.
With costs skyrocketing and donations going down, we could use more supporters. Will you be one?

One thing I hardly ever ask for but it is necessary. Our house is termite ridden and we have to find a decent place to live. Prices have gone up there, My medications, food, electricity, phone, internet, gas for the car. It’s almost imposible.

MAY PRODUCES FLOWERS!

Luk_18:16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

VBS WAS A TOTAL SUCCESS!

Can you imagine being in our small Church with 100 kids?
And not quiet kids. These kids were so excited and laughing, yelling, responding and, best of all, smiling!
We praise God that these children were able to hear the Gospel and, just like the 10 lepers, we had ten return to attend Church the next day.
Many thanks to all our teachers, cooks and supervisors for the great job they did.
We have no idea who responds to the Gospel, but I know that God’s word will not return to Him void.

Box Ministry
Many thanks to our friends in Canada that sent a box full of goodies.

Educational Ministry
We are doing a heck of a job supporting the local Jollibee and Kenny Rogers as our smart students keep winning those incentives!
Some students will graduate from college this year and more will enroll. Our 20-year plan is coming to fruition!
Pray for the children to get their school supplies by June. We have quite a bit already that was donated locally. Our total need is about $200.
Laura took her board exam last March. If she is the highest, she will win a car! Pray!

Moving Day!
Oh, how I love the sound of that. We are in constant prayer that God will give us that day when we can build a compound. I have been soliciting various companies that are involved with charitable giving. Please pray that God will direct their hearts to give.

Marching on to April.

What do you think of when you think of April?

Flowers, Walks in the park, Sweet smells…

Perhaps window shopping. Baseball games.

Kids playing in the streets, birds singing.

This is what it looks like here. Although our PBC Kids look a lot different. Oh, they live in the same environment, we have no pretty flowers. The smells? Welllll! And once in a while you will see a bird but he’s not singing.
the difference with PBC Kids is they are happy. They are getting a education and have incentives to do great. All this ibecause of many of you. You decided that these kids need to hear the good news of the Gospel and you tell them by your donations which help to feed, educate and to elevate them. Now, because we started doing this 19 years ago, we have about 9 young people in college and more about to join that system. All of our kids go door knocking each week spreading the good news that saved them and gave them some peace. So thank you to all of you who have prayed and shared your resources with us.

GOT GAS?

How are your gas prices? Yeah, here too. Not only gas but everything has gone up and it is hard to keep up with it. Just when you think you have enough for Burger king this week, it becomes a fleeting dream.Keep praying, Things will get better for all of us.

Friends

Our friends from California came to the Philippines for two weeks and made time for us. We are honored. They also took us out to dinner. We had a good time of fellowship.

Education
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters we registered a couple of students for their semester at college and also helped others.
We continue to give the younger ones, Jollibee and Kenny Rogers according to their accomplishments.
Our Kisha Rubinos graduated with her Associates degree in Music and Ministry and is planning on missionary work in the province. (God’s work marches on)
Jessa will graduate August 4th as a Mathematician
Rosalyn will graduate in July as a Mechanical Engineer

VBS

Our 19th annual VBS will be held on April 20-25 8am to 11am
this is a time that we invite 100 children to attend six days of fun and Christian education where they will have the opportunity to find out about Jesus. Some will choose to continue to attend Church as some before them have done and are now graduating college!
We need $300 for VBS this year so if you care to help

What does your giving do?

I can tell you plenty about what your giving means and does for this ministry and the Payatas kids. However, you might be interested in what it does for you.
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” – Acts 20:35
When you give it makes you feel great. that’s just the way we are made. To feel good for doing good. Also, when you give it let’s you appreciate that you are able to give while your recipient is not in that position.

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over…” – Luke 6:38

“The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” – Proverbs 11:25

A New Year with new
challenges

A NEW YEAR WITH NEW CHALLENGES

Three of our college students have been enrolled for their final Semester/ paid in full and looking to their future. Jessa- a Mathematician – Genesis – A teacher of filipino and Rosalyn – a civil engineer.

Another college student at Bob Jones Memorial College just had her recital.
Kisha Rubinos and just received her associates degree. She will be attending the University of the Philippines for her Bachelors degree. She will become a music teacher.

One other College student, Shenir Quezada will be Graduating PUP this year with her bachelors degree as a Political Science major and will be attending the University of the Philippines for her law degree. She was chosen to defend her legal thesis in conference.

Laura graduated Music education, Magna Cum Laude and will be taking her board exam in March.

We are praying for Linda’s Culinary School entrance when she graduates Bob Jons Memorial Bible College after two years after which she will be attending a one week course in Italy to master italian cooking.

We are so greatful for the donations to send these young people to good colleges. You have made such a difference in their lives. Each one of them are involved heavily in Church ministry teaching the bible, Music and outreach to the community.

We received many bags of groceries from our sending Church (Bethel Baptist Church of Carson, CA. they were distributed to PBC families as well as those in the community. It was another great opportunity to share the Gospel.

Laura’s music students parents also gave us blessings of Food, clothes and school supplies. They will be distributed this June. they also gave hygenic supplies, alcohol, tissues, towels and more.

Box Ministry

We continue to receive boxes of items from all over. They are a blessing to us and the community.

Pray for our children that they keep from the outside world of online games, their cell phone use… Satan wants them but God wants them more!

We are praying for a larger Church building. Will you pray with us to that end. We need more room for a sanctuary, classrooms…

God bless you all who have supported our financial needs as well as your prayers.

PBC CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR THE KIDS
The kids had a ball. They received the Gospel of Jesus Christ, clothes, toys, prizes, a hot meal and food to take home to the family for a Christmas meal! And, they received all of it because of those generous people who heard the Lord and responded with their giving.
Giving to good causes is one of the things that give you peace and joy!

This is for members 16 years of age and up. We had a great time, eating and playing games as well as winning prizes. See it here.Each year the party, prizes and food are supplied by our Cristmas caroling The caroling was very successful, and we were happy to present the Gospel in song.
