I can see clearly now the rain is gone

Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind

This song came to my mind and reminded me of two things.
1: I just had cataract surgery and from what I understand, 
in about six weeks
I will be able to sing that song. The surgery itself was a miracle.
I had gone to Medical city and the doctor told me it would cost 
P200,000 for one eye. That's about $4,000. I have read where many
 Filipinos go blind because they can not afford the surgery. After 
searching the internet we found a charity hospital which would do it
for p3600 (about $70)
When I met the doctor he told me that he was sad that I had been here
for twelve years helping filipinos and I had to travel so far to get help. So he 
said I should only pay p600. (about 11 dollars) It was amazing. What a 
wonderful man who donates his time to help others. After it was over,
 he gave us the P600 back!

#2 It reminded me of all the people here we presented the Gospel who 
can now see clearly .Those dark clouds that had them blind had passed 
and the sun was bright and hopeful.

Thank you Jesus for your mercy.

Not to mention all the other ones that they sent.  students and
families are receiving things they would not be able to get on their
own.

Laura and Linda are just about finished for this year.
 Laura has one last year and then off to college. Can
 you believe it? We came here and Laura was up to my 
hip and Linda was in a basket. Time flys.

We are still looking for available (and cheap) land so
 we can build a couple of small houses for deserving
families. For you who donated to that fund it is  
intact and in the bank. Pray that it grows and becomes
efficient.

We have acquired two more birth certificates so a 
couple of kids can attend school and we enrolled a 
couple more in college. The 20 year plan is working.

Many people think a new car, house or trip to Europe would be showers of blessings, I would suggest everything that drops from the hand God would be those blessings.

Have you ever watched someone climb the ladder of success?

I just watched the God father front to back and in it the young son, Michael, who had dreams of being married and raising children, becomes involved with his gangster family when his father is shot.

He keeps saying how the whole family will be legitimate in 5 years but 5 went to 7 and so on.

He got richer and more powerful and watched as family was killed and his life was miserable.
What were the best times in your life? Sitting at a big table with your family, eating and laughing and enjoying each other. Perhaps you have a small house and an old car yet your family means so much and Church is high on your list.

Think about your choices and choose the Godly path.

Well, I am off to the cardio doctor to get a clearance for my cataract surgery. Please pray that I get the $300 needed.

So many missionaries start off as lions but like the month of march, leave as lambs.

Why is that? They say it’s money but I don’t believe it is. We came here with $550 per month to run our house and start a Church and it was not easy. We are now approaching our 12th year and we don’t have more than $1,300 per month but yet we still continue on.

I attribute our longevity to a few things. #1 We were really called by God and since the beginning we have put everything in the hands of the Lord. We trusted that if He called us he would bring us and He did.

2nd When times got tough we hung on to that fact that God would bring us through it and He did. Every time. 3rd We developed such a love for the people it would mean we would be abandoning them if we left. After all, the poor are able to survive why can’t we?

I believe many people have a desire to become a missionary but it is their own will and not from God and when it starts getting tough they flee. We have no home to own, a beat up 27 year old put together car, no pension, no health insurance and yet He sustains us. All glory and honor and praise to our Lord!

We are so blessed as our wonderful friends keep sending Balikbayan boxes filled with       wonderful things. They are getting stuff
they could not afford to buy in stor es and much of the stuff can be used in our VBS. Much thanks to our Canadian as well as our Floridian friends at VBN.
