Another Christmas here and gone.

How many are now saying, “Gee, I’m glad that’s over.”?
Each year there is a certain amount of dread that comes to me despite
my faith and love of Christ. It is the dread that we have a Christmas
celebration to give to 100 kids and after that, mine and my Sister in
laws family to have a Christmas, followed by New Years and the two girls
birthdays,

I have this conversation with God every year. “Lord, I know you provide all my needs but how about my wants?”

This year began the same way. I started two months before
Christmas to raise funds and nothing was coming in. Week after
week—Nothing. Finally, I had my conversation with God but this year it
was different. “God, I know you supply all my needs and all you supply
should be all I want. In other words, God knows what we need, want and
He is ready to provide as we put our tust in Him. So I said, “It’s all
in your hands Lord.” I did not quit fund raising because I believe God
blesses our best efforts.

Jas 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Jas 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Then it came, God touched the hearts of some people and we raised
the $2000 needed. We had the best Christmas Celebration ever! Click here to see for yourself!

And then we were broke again. Twas the three days before Christmas
and all through the house, no food, gifts for anyone and none in sight!

And then God! We received a couple of generous donations and we were able to have a Christmas. Take a look here!

We are not fearful. We are looking to celebrate the Birthdays of
our children however God has planned it. It will be terrific.

Take a look at some of the other happenings at PBC,

Our annual outing at Quezon City Circle

PBC kids raised their own money to go Swimming!

Vitamin Distribution (given by a friend)

There is so much more. Just go to our photo site or Facebook pages to see.

After being here 8 years we have little ones graduating into the
youth group while youth are coming into the adult group. We are so proud
of all of them as their lives are showing the changes that only Christ
can give.

              OUR HOME

Well, the good news is we do not have to move, however our rent
was almost doubled. In the meantime I got an email from my Real Estate
guy who has an interested buyer! YaY! He want’s owner financing. Boo.
However if the down payment is right, we could buy a house here. YaY!
Pray whatever God’s will is, we will willingly accept it.

						Our Kids

It’s so hard to believe (and I live with them) but Laura will turn
13 Feb 9th while Linda will be 9 on Jan 11th. How fast they grow and
yes, they have just finished school and need the books and materials for
Laura’s 1st year of High school and Linda’s 5th grade experience.
That is around a $500 experience. Pray for God’s intervention.

						Thank You

We especially want to thank those special people who are called to
help this ministry. They have sacrificed and cheerfully given of
themselves as well as their funds. You know who you are. We sincerely
love you and the PBC Kids love you also.

I remember as a kid, going with
my father and brother to pick out the Christmas tree. I want to say it
was on Christmas Eve but my memory fails me. I do know it was always as
late as possible so that we could get the tree as cheaply as possible. I
remember my father being upset because the tree cost $5. Imagine that?
We had a poor people’s Christmas with some presents and a special
dinner but none of the great festivities of the middle and upper
class who had constant parties and company and dinners along with all
kinds of treats.

Now, some 50 plus years later, here I am awaiting my 62nd Christmas. I
find myself praying for a special turkey dinner and maybe a few
presents. It seems we have come, full circle. I read about others on the
internet that are hoping for a new car or an ipad/ipod? ( I really
don’t know the difference. Kids getting $500 computers and electronic
games that cost more than my rent. Yet here, (not the Philippines) but
here in Payatas, one of the most destitute areas in this land, most
people will wake up on the 25th to just another day, wondering how they
will feed their family. There will be no special foods , no presents of
any kind, not even a card. All over the Philippines people celebrate,
sing, eat, exchange presents, but not here. There will be none of that.

There is however, one little Church which every year gives a
Christmas Celebration for 100 poor kids.PBC! We tell them about the
Christ of Christmas, we give them a nice meal and dessert; they get a
pair of pants or a skirt according to their gender. Also, they receive a
shirt, footwear and a toy. We have games and contests and everyone wins
prizes and when it’s time to go home, they bring a small bag of food so
their family can enjoy a Christmas meal.

For eight years we have done that but for whatever reason, we only
have $400 of the $2000 needed. I see on the internet all the
preparations for many glorious Christmases in other places so I don’t
think it’s the money. Perhaps it is the very cold weather that has
caused hearts to become cold?

Our celebration is on the 13th and we will watch to see what God will
do. As the poor Christmases past, we are not so used to frivolity and
such blessings are extra to us so we will continue to experience the
love of the Saints and faith in Jesus Christ.

My larger concern is for them who have heard the Holy Spirit prodding
them, reminiscent of Scrooge being disturbed while he slept and crying
leave me alone. My concern is that your time of trouble may come and
none will hear you. As I heard from a man one time, those who have
little, when they fall, their fall is cushioned as it is not too far but
those who have much suffer a great crash when they fall because they
have much to lose.

Please think on the poor of Payatas this time of the year and always.

			OUR INCOME

It seems we have lost another supporter of $100 per month. There has
been no reason given, just stopped. I believe God will sustain us but
the sad part is we do not hear anything as to why. We pray for all our
supporters and if there is a problem we would like to know. So now our
ministry operates on somewhere around $1100 per month for all expenses
of Church and home yet the people of Payatas still look to us to present
them with the word of God. To give them hope and peace through Jesus
and to encourage them in their salvation.

			More People – More Help

Even with all the problems, new people are coming to our Church each
week. The two little girls who live with their disabled grandfather are
continuing to learn their studies at the church. Malou was able to get
their birth certificates (a most difficult process) and the girls should
start school in June. Pray that we are able to continue to help these
children. We have two in college, one of which is in her last year. Our
children at Church have brought their report cards to our education
leader and their grades have improved tremendously. Praise God!

Laura just finished the 8th grade and Linda the 4th. Now they will need another $500 to get their books for the New Year.

			YOUTH RALLY

Our youth had a great time out at the youth Rally at Community Baptist Bible Church.
It is so good to see all the different Churches getting together to learn, fellowship and worship together.

We need to GET OUT

We still need to move by next month. The landlord is selling the
house. Houses are cheap if you have the money. A relatively nice house
is $50,000. That may as well be a million for us. We do have property
that we own in SC. It is about 26 acres. It is up for sale at $80,000.
If it sells, we could by a house easy. The market is slow. God also
knows this.
Pray that God will show us what He will do.

			OUR VISION

Our vision is to reach the 240,000 people here in Payatas. Please pray that we will be able to reach every home!

For our supporters who read this newsletter and see the need. This
will also allow you to see how you have been used by God to continue
this ministry. We will not give up, we will not give in. we will
continue to fight the good fight! Thank you so much and may God bless
your every need.

perishable,subject to decay.Some
look forward to the weekend yet all the weekends you have had are gone
now. Some look forward to new cars, new houses, vacations. These are all
nice but they don’t make a mark on your soul. Then there are they who
look forward to sharing prayers, time and money to bring the Gospel to
those who are destined to hell unless they hear and repent. It is those
people who have these experiences that will never fade and will be able
to bring them into eternity where God will reward their efforts. So
enjoy the gifts that God has given to you, yet do not forget to bless
others.

That is for sure Our blessed hope. Until then we look forward to doing the work which God has given to us to do.

We will be here eight years next month

Last year we decided to have an annual SALVATION CELEBRATION instead of an
anniversary. It is almost the same. We start out with our regular
Sunday service and then we have testimonies from both adults and
children. It is a heart warming experience. We have music by our very
own musicians and then we will eat a pot luck dinner followed by
contests and games. We are so happy to celebrate eight years and thank
those of you who help make this mission a success.

						We look forward also to:

Christmas Caroling December 17th

Laura and Linda finishing the 8th and 4th grades (Can you believe Laura is going into High School?

The handmade violin given by a generous craftsman
will be here on the 10th of November as Missionary Kevin Trout has
generously offered to bring it here when he comes from America.

Our two college students are finishing their 3rd and 2nd years

We are praying and looking forward to receiving more violins and guitars to replace our well worn ones.

The laptop computer given to me by Pastor Abrot
is just about wearing out as the Windows XP is no longer supported it is
beginning to slow down and is open to viral attacks. We are praying to
replace it with an updated model.

BLESSINGS!

We have received two donations this month which
will help us immensely. Donations are at a low but just when we start to
feel the crunch, God leads someone to give. One thing which has been
needed for two years now are new glasses fo me. I can’t wait to see what
it is like to look through unscratched lenses!

We were also able to get a printer for our home
office. Malou has been running all over doing some Corporate work that
needs completing and she would have to load her usb and go to a Internet
cafe everytime she wanted to print something out or she would have to
wait until we went to Church. Now we can print and copy!

October 3rd was a great Pastor’s Appreciation day. I truly am blessed with a wonderful Church.

We are still looking forward and praying for our PBC Compound complete
with a large Church sanctuary, school, medical clinic and outdoor arena
for evangelism. At the low cost of $5 million dollars, that should be
easy for God.

God bless all you that are praying for and supporting this work. Remember, what we do is all done partly because of you.

						God Bless!

“The season we call fall was
once referred to simply as ?harvest? to reflect the time when farmers
gathered their crops for winter storage, roughly between August and
November.” The word harvest comes from the Old Norse word haust
meaning ?to gather or pluck.? In the early 1600s as more people started
moving into cities, the word harvest fell out of use. Instead, city
dwellers began to use the phrase ?fall of the leaf? to refer to the
third season of the year when trees lose their leaves. The word fall comes from the Old English word feallan which means ?to fall or to die.? Over time, the phrase was shortened to fall.your recipients’ first names.

Interestingly enough, that interpretation works well for this
ministry and even we only have Rainy days and sunny days here, in a
sense we also have Fall.

Our Fall does not consists of cool, windy days in which one would
don their sweaters, go outside and enjoy the sights and colors of a
vibrant changing season. No, our fall is like that of this picture. It
is when our money tree sheds most of it’s money, when most people are so
busy preparing to have a thanksgiving feast for a huge family get
together or start spending money for the annual Christmas bash. Alas
some Christians are planning to celebrate Halloween although that in
itself is sad. Children going back to school, new clothes and on and on.
No our fall is a fall in finances. There is no thanksgiving, although
most are thankful for whatever they have. It’s just not celebrated with a
large stuffed bird with all the trimmings. There is no halloween here
and thankfully so what we have left, is the hope of having our Christmas
celebration. Like the story above says, it’s a time of harvest and it
means to gather or pluck. If you remember your old testament it said you
were not to cultivate the edges of your fields and what ever fell when
harvesting was to be left there for the poor.
That is what we are asking for. As the fall of our supplies
dwindle and our children need school supplies and clothes and a happy
Chrismas celebration, would you please send us that which you kept on
the side for the poor as our Father has instructed?

Psa_98:4 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

The term, “Make a joyful Noise” is found in the KJBible 7 times. In every instance it is in psalms.

Making a joyful noise is to celebrate God’s greatness and all of His attributes. It’s to tell Him, “We love you Lord.” It is to be excited about that love.

In our lives there are plenty of joyful noises if we listen. The cry of a new born baby, the soft voice of a Godly woman who is now very old speaking to her grandchildren, Children reciting their verses out loud. On Friday past, we had our PBC Musicians, Make a Joyful Noise concert in the covered Court in Payatas.

Our good friend Missionary Troy Beaver of http://www.worshiponwheels.com/ came and brought audio and video equipment as well as plenty of food for the poor.
I asked him what we could do for him and he replied ” nothing, this is what I do, help other Pastors to help others” He certainly does.. He was also actively helping during the typhoon. Please visit his site by clicking the link.

									Photos of the Concert

The kids were wonderful and they were all so happy to show their talent. All in all it was a wonderful night.
We were able so far to buy one used violin which is so much better than anything we had. We also have an offer to give us a hand made violin from a violin maker in the States. A very wonderful gift. I will not mention his name for fear he will be plagued with requests but God knows what he did.

If you know of anyone who might donate a violin, we could use it.

									The Ongoing Work at Payatas

Our work of bringing the Gospel to the people of Payatas never stops. The concert was part of that mission as well as our outreach programs. We also need to attend to our own soldiers in Christ.
If you wonder where the $1400 a month income we get , goes, We had to get two pairs of glasses for two of our church kids and another needed some dental work.
We also have two tiny little girls whose mother left them and the father did not take care of them so their grandfather took them in. They live in a structure that is probably no larger than a U.S. walk in closet. The grandfather is 55 and can barely walk because of an on the job accident he sustained. I just found this out last night and immediately we started to give. We will go over there Saturday to see if we can improve his building and one of our people is checking out doctors to help his legs. In the meantime my wife will be working on getting the girls in school. they have no birth certificates and the school doesn’t want to take them.

I just preached a sermon before I knew about this. The subject was “Pleasing God” living in the Spirit and not the flesh. I asked, if you were on your way to buy something at the store that you really wanted and have been saving for, and you pass a child who is starving—Do you buy him a meal knowing you will not be able to get your own item or do you get the item?
That night we got the above report. Here is a photo.

When we have a situation like this we have to do anything we can. There is no choice other than to reject humanity for ourselves.
If you would like to help this family, click here

Please indicate the donation is for “Lolo and the kids” Lolo means grandfather. Donations not marked will go into the general fund which actually means they will go for things like this anyway!

Life is so much different here. Our church is in one of the poorest baranguays there is. Our people were in tears last light because they said God had given them so much and we need to help that family. There is one other joyful noise I cherish. The sound of Godly people being compassionate.

						July is the month we
remember the fact that we fought to obtain our Independence. What a
celebration it is. You really can not appreciate Independence until it
is taken away from you. Just ask someone in jail about that.

Sometimes as we get older it is harder and harder to be
independent and we have to rely on others to do things we used to do so
easily.

Of course the term independent does not go along with the term
Missionary as we depend on the love and kindness of others as well as
their desire to help God’s work, to survive.

Here in Payatas there are too many dependent people. That is where
PMO/PBC comes in. We introduce them to the true independence creator.
Jesus Christ, because with him we are truly no longer dependent on the
will of others or situations. They learn to rely on the grace of God and
it is working!

Recently my wife was watching the TV and she said, “Look at this.” It
was a news show which stated that people graduating college here in the
Philippines are not getting jobs because they can not speak English.

On any given day you can hear me walking through the Church
shouting, “ENGLISH!” “ENGLISH!” at the kids as well as the adults.

it is one of the things that we do and that is to encourage them
all to learn English and well so they can be in demand for good
employment.

With my Brooklyn-English language skills, how can they go wrong?

We have two levels of Math teaching and all the other studies. Our
children are asked in school why they know so much and they proudly
say, we are taught at PBC!

I am so thankful to God for the independence he is giving everyone.

If you depend on God you will not need to depend on anyone else.

I have done a bit of calculating of the budget and I have come up with a very interesting result.

Our out go exceeds donations on a monthly basis but I have found
that each month God sends extra money from different places and enables
us to make our needs. Praise be to God that supplies our needs.

We are getting ready for August 29 where we have reserved the
covered court on Narra Street. It can fit over 1000 people. All of our
musicians will be playing as well as some of our kids will be doing hand
mimes with uv lighting showing the grace of God.

We will Share the Gospel message as well as our Church members who are not playing will give out tracts among the guests.

Our good friend and Missionary Troy Beaver and his wife Thai are coming to help us get this thing off the ground. Click to see his work.
Pray for all of us that the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be received by many. It certainly will be heard by many.

The week before we will go down to the market area and set up our
violinists to play as we hand out tracts and invitations to the concert.

Please pray for our musicians that we can get them some better functioning instruments.

June is a time for Lovers

We also know”Love is a very splendid thing” and “All you need is love”

How about you? What is your passion? We sometimes say, “Man, I love burgers”
or “I love football” and so on.
Yet the word love is to describe a relationship between people. I
love my wife, I love my kids. We need to pay attention to not placing an
inordinate affection on things that don’t matter or being less than
affectionate with those who do.
How is you love relationship with God? Is it your passion? Do you
wake up in the morning greeting Him or do you not feel that He is always
present? Are you quick to seek Him in times of trouble and more
important to be thankful for Him for all He has given to you?
Let’s focus today on our relationships of love. Our friends, our family and mostly, our God.

						We are Thankful!

As I sit here writing my children are practicing their violins and
my wife is practicing the flute. I am completely overwhelmed at the
fact that not very long ago, none of them knew anything about music and
today, I have a free concert of sweet melody of which to listen. Thank
you Father for all you have given to us. You have placed your beautiful
music throughout my house and our Church. You have given to us
instruments and musicians alike and you have blessed them.
Please pray for new violins for our fourteen musicians. The difference in quality is astounding!
We also are planning a day of witnessing with violinists. They are
practicing now so that we will go down to the marketplace and our
violinists will play while the rest of the Church hand out tracts and
engages the people in Christian conversation.

						PBC CONCERT

Please pray for our upcoming concert on Aug. 29th 7pm to 10pm at the local covered court.
All of our musicians will play, we will also have hand mimes and
testimonies as well as a Gospel message. Pray that we will be able to
reach many on that night.

						PBC Academics

We have started the PBC book club and thanks to those who donated
so many books our kids are having a great time reading. They read
during the week and on Saturday they have a teacher who reviews what
they read and helps them to understand the words and the plot.

Our Church children are doing great in school. Even the teachers
in their schools notice that our kids are the ones with the answers!
Our music ministry and academics department is constantly expanding.
Also, thank you for those of you who sent school materials. We
have some that were sent long ago that we are now using in our programs.
God is Good!

						Our Children are Christians!

Remember how Christians first got their name in Antioch? It was
because they acted just like Jesus. We are so happy that all of our kids
have met the Saviour and are constantly being sanctified. One
grandmother said about her grandson that she was so pleased that he has
stopped cursing and he is now behaving. Some of these kids come in as
lions but when they meet Jesus they become His lambs.

Pray for PBC that we will have the space and resources we need.

God Bless! Pastor Jack, Malou, Laura, Linda and the gang at PBC!

I was looking over the family photos of all those that have served our Country and are no more.
It made me think of the verse above and how quickly our days are.
The Bible says they are like a vapour. Time after time I will say to
Malou, it’s Friday already or whatever day it may be. It all seems to go
so fast.

I just found out that a dear friend is in the Hospital. she had a
massive stroke. Fortunately, it looks like it turn out good. Please pray
for her. I think sometimes these things are reminders for ourselves to
Computer for the Church

Praise God! After much prayer and many crashes we finally were
able to get a new computer for the Church. Well, we got the case and
power supply, the motherboard and the chip and the ram (are you
following all this?) and that’s about it. We will use the old monitor,
dvd recorder, keyboard and mouse but the insides will be mostly new.

Someone recently donated a tiny laptop which I gave over to our
cut off our support. I don’t know why people insist on cutting off
those on a very low budget and keep those who are doing well but all I
have to say is God is in control.
Going from $1200 per month to $1100 a month is just one more test of our endurance. Sometimes you just want to say, “It’s enough now Lord” but
However the Christian community came together in force to condemn
their actions and so they reversed their policy in just three short
days.

This is a “Christian” organization which collects 1 Billion Dollars a year in donations.

This is not a shock to me or many who realize that the days of Noah are rapidly approaching.

When I think of all the good we do through Christ, how much we
sacrifice and how we follow Biblical doctrine and we make a plea to
raise $1000 to offset our expenses. That we raise $350 and are stuck for
the rest and we could not send our kids to camp because the price is
children of God struggle to do His will . What does the “Christian”
community say? “Make bricks without straw”.

I saw a wonderful Bible study on FB the other day. It was full of
photos of Lobster and Shrimp and all sorts of goodies. I think of how
people complain because their mortgage is too high or the gas costs too
much and we can’t go to McDonalds because the price is too high.

People might think I am complaining. I am. Paul told various
Churches that he expected them to send him on his way. This means to
help finance his work. He told the Corinthians that they needed to
fulfill the vow they made to help support him.

It was the Macedonians that show us a true sense of giving. That
seems to always be the way. A few that are not wealthy giving to the
needs of others.

People today take on a hundred missionaries and give them a few
bucks and then tell everyone how many missionaries they support. It
takes more than a few bucks.

Perhaps we need a Missionary Month. At this time you might think
on things like how much money the missionary has in his pocket or does
he have clothes for the family. How is his health? Do they have a health
plan? Retirement? How about a vacation?

No, World Vision’s newsflash did not surprise me. They were
testing the waters. They wanted to see if Christians are so self
absorbed they would not notice.

Not his year World Vision. Maybe next.

						VBS
April 28th – May3rd
Every year around this time we have our annual VBS. This time is
used to continue to train our Church kids in the Lord as well as a venue
to reach out to other children.
The cost is $300 for food, crafts and teacher supplies.
We can use your help

						ANOTHER PBC BAPTISM

Ronnie Clarin has decided to follow the instruction of Christ by entering the waters of Baptism. We are proud of Ronnie.

						BLESSINGS

We had some dear friends donate some money and so we were able to
pay for the VBS materials, as well as we bought 10 recorders for some
very excited young people. That brings us to 19 children playing or
learning to play!

						EDUCATION

Our plan to educate the children is going fantastic. One of our
older college students actually was asked to teach the other students
that have problems with math at their school.
Some of the younger ones have received 1st, 2nd & 3rd honors and all of our kids are excelling in their studies.

Today, we have a Dell Manager who attends our Church who started
teaching computer studies. The first class had about 30 kids!

Our preacher is teaching advance math for the older kids. They?re loving it!

						Conclusion

There gives me no greater pleasure than serving God here in the
Philippines. To be able to preach and to teach and to organize an
organization which is lifting children up and watching them grow in
Christ is a blessing. I am sure my legacy will be thousands of people
who became strong members of the Christian community and will escape the
poverty that is in this place.
My only sadness is the lack of interest of others to help support
this work. There is no doubt as to what is being accomplished here as
everything is documented. The only doubt is why do Christians choose not
to help.

						Our Supporters
Keeping these words in mind I want you to know how this makes us
feel so much closer to you. You have been used by God to keep this
mission going. I know that so many of you are personally blessed because
of your generosity. Thank you.
