OOOOPS , HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I can’t believe I forgot to send out the New Year edition of our Newsletter.

December was so hectic and
fun that I completely forgot. I know I sent out some photos but please
forgive the lapse in memory and let’s catch up now.

December for us here is a time of fun. It is when we
temporarily put away the more laborous things and focus on a time of
giving God praise and celebrating the year that passed.

We started off by going Christmas Caroling.
We had over 50 kids and adults. More than ever before! We also had
guitarists, a violinist, a flutist and a harmonica player. All were
taught through the ministry of P.B.C.

Then we had so much fun preparing and having the Annual Payatas Kids Christmas Celebration!
Thanks to some very generous donors we collected more funds then we had
collected the four previous years. Because of your generosity we were
able to give 100 kids a Christmas. Now you must understand this, most of
them do not have a tree, presents or any kind of frivolity. Because of
you they got (besides teaching them about Christmas) a hot Christmas
meal with dessert as well as footwear, pants or skirt, shirts, toys and
prizes.
We also decorated the place so nice. They were all amazed when they came in to the building.

We then had our own, PBC Church party for the adults and older teens.
Everyone had a ball.

Finally, we had an outing for the Church. The Quezon City
Government paid for the bus and everyone brought their lunch, balls,
badminton and whatever else and enjoyed a nice day together at the
Quezon City Circle.

As they say, all good things must end so we just was put on notice to

VACATE THE CHURCH BUILDING!

Our landlady told us that she wanted the building for relatives and we have about five months to leave.

We have started a building fund and although we have little
in it we are believing that God will cause many to give and we will be
able to buy a piece of land and build a building. Today I won $250 from
Paypal and so that will go right to the building fund.

So you guessed it, another plea. We are asking everyone to
give. whether it be $1 or a million. Please, just give something. Then,
after you give, Write: “I just helped this great cause and I am asking
if you will help too.”

It’s Almost Over

One more month to go and it’s finished. 2011 will be no more, never to be seen again.
All the things you might have wanted to do but did not,will have gone with the ending of the year.

We should all ask ourselves these questions:

Did my life make a difference to someone?

Have I contributed in some way to make this world a better place?

Have I been an example to my own family knowing it is not what we say but what we do that sticks with them?

Are the resolutions you will make next month something you should have done this year?

On the 17th of December we will be having our annual Christmas Celebration for the Payatas Kids. Some of these children have no Christmas except what we provide for them.
This year , as always, we will be telling them about the birth of Christ, we will have Bible quizzes, games, contests, A home made Christmas dinner complete with desert, each child will get a toy, a pair of pants or a skirt, shirts, foot wear and a bag of food to take home. They also will be enjoying making crafts as presents for their families.

OUR FIFTH ANNIVERSARY

Our fifth anniversary was a wonderful success!
Our speaker was Pastor Edgar Orcales and he was inspirational to say the least. Our theme was a sure foundation. I got the idea when I thought of how we have for the past five years focussed on building a strong Church. Not necessarily a large one but one with a good foundation. Pastor Orcales started preaching about how large buildings have large foundations and sometimes it takes a while before you see anything happening as the foundation is underground. He said, once the foundation was finished you will see the walls go up fast as the building is built. It gave me a warm feeling that perhaps our vision of building the compound , is on the way. We had games, prizes, entertainment by our own church musicians and a 45 kilo pig! A good time was had by all. Photos

Door Knocking – Visiting – Sharing the Word

Our people are like a well oiled evangelistic machine. With approximately 50 people going out throughout Payatas every Saturday. We give out plenty of tracts and engage in conversations with plenty of people. The Filipinos are very open to discuss the Bible. Our teams also go visiting individual homes every week. Additionally, our people approach others wherever they go. Whether at the market or riding on a Jeepney they are excited to share the word with others.

Our Education Program

Our dream is to build a school. we pray for that every day but we are not sitting back , doing nothing until it happens.
Some of our people are teaching our kids in their homes. The result of this program has been very rewarding as they have received higher grades since they begun their extended education. Please pray for our children as they seek to serve God by being better students.

Our Music Program
Our kids are learning their instruments well. As of now we have five guitar players with three more in the wings. One flute, one organ, one violin, two Ukeleles and a harmonica.
We pray that by next year we will have our own small orchestra.
Our own Andre, with only one arm, wanted to play something like everyone else. Praise God! We got him a harmonica and he is playing songs already. He is a very dedicated young boy.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP WITH OUR OWN NEEDS!

So many times we get people who send donations for the kids and that’s wonderful. We really appreciate it. However every once in a while someone says, “this is for your needs” or “use it for what is needed” It makes me feel good that people realize that we have needs also.
We thank you for your gifts. It is because of you our children are educated, there is food on our table and even our documents are paid for. When my father was in the hospital it was you who came through for me. I will never forget those who sacrificed to make sure I got to see him before he passed away.
You mean so much to me personally and the Church. Our members know your names and pray for you on a daily basis. You are so much , full partners in the work here. Every body has a function. The poor can only pray yet it is one of the greatest things to do as they reach God’s ear. Those who have, give, Some send boxes, others just drop a note to tell us they are thinking of us. Put it all together and we are a family.
This Thanksgiving we have a tradition of spending it with a few people at my friend, Pastor Reuel’s house. Please know that of all the things we are thankful for, they all start with you.

Halloween is the only True Holiday.

I bet that got your attention. No, I haven’t gone off the deep end.
Let’s look at the holidays. On Christmas many people celebrate the tree
and Santa Claus and presents. I went to my daughter’s school years ago
when she had told me that they had Mennorahs hanging for the Jewish
holidays and Santa Claus for Christmas. I went up to the school and the
Principal told me that they don’t put up “religious” items. I said what
about the Menorah. she said, oh, that’s Jewish, they don’t know its
religious. I said are you kidding? The Jewish people are very
knowledgeable about their religion. To make a long story short, I got
her to hang the manger scene in the main lobby.

On Easter we celebrate the Easter bunny and jelly beans, on Thanksgiving
we clebrate the Turkey and deserts. The list goes on. Yet on Halloween
they dress up like little devils and dead people and other agonized
looking creatures and it is meant to be a night to placate the dead so
they will be nice to us another year. Christians should give out tracts
with the candy but don’t partake in that celebration. even though most
people genuinely do not believe in Halloween, they still partake of it
wherein the Bible tells us not to.

Let’s focus on what we believe and strengthen those things!

In any case I got an email one day from a brother named Eddie Kim. He
said he was with a group called “Men of Integrity”. Most were from
Hawaii and some from Washington State.They were in the Philippines
ministering in Mindanao and on their way home and he said they would
love to come to bless us with music and encouragement in the word. I
said, Come on!

14 of some very big guys showed up at our door. Each one looked like
they wrestled aligators. They came and performed by singing and doing a
Hawaiin dance. They preached the word and gave the kids small toys and
soccer balls (which they also played with the kids) They gave us two
Ukeleles and a guitar, a tuner and music. They helped our kids who are
learning with us to learn even more, how to play the instruments. They
were very generous to our Church. When they were gone, I felt like we
knew them a long time and our friends had left. Hopefully, we will get
to see them again next year. May God bless their wonderful work.

Typhoon Pedring,

rolled through, knocking out power and telecommunications for two days.
Our food was ruined and we were without a phone for three weeks because
of slow response of our supplier, Globe Telecom. Yet all in all God
protected us as He always does and we were able to come through it,
unscathed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have suffered so
much loss through all of it.

The same situation was found at the Church where we enjoyed an
unintentional, candlelight service. It is so wonderful to see our people
with candles and flashlights still determined to study the word of God
together. It only brings us closer!

5 YEARS!

We have been here 5 years this past July. Three months later we found
this place and incorporated the Church. So we are celebrating our fifth
anniversary in less than two weeks. We have a lot of fun planned. Watch
for our videos for some interesting viewing.

I know you just hate hearing about money. Me too. I hate hearing,
“Honey, we have no food for tonight.” “Honey, the kids need shoes.”
“Pastor Jack, the rent is due.” For the most part, we manage day to day
like many of you. Yet there are things we need so bad and we have to
depend on the generosity of others.

Last month I sent the following note and only a couple of people
responded. Did you think some else would do it or God will provide?
Actually, God provides through people and if the people won’t give we
don’t get. Please look at this list again and see if their is not
something you can do to help. We have a lot of generous people. You can
be one that God will also bless because of your generosity.

CHRISTMAS FOR THE PAYATAS KIDS

Additionally, we are quickly approaching that time again where we will
hopefully provide a Christmas celebration that without our doing it,
many of these children will not experience the day.

We teach them about the birth of Christ and what it means, we have games
and contests and prizes. We give them footwear and pants and a shirt.
This year we would like to give the girls skirts. We also gibe them a
toy and fill them with a delicious meal complete with desert. It is a
Christmas that they now look forward to.

When I say us, I mean you and PMO/PBC because of your help, we can do
it. We will do the cooking and the shopping and the teaching and the
gameplaying. We will decorate the Church and clean up afterwards. Will
you help with the finances?

The Church had a Pastor appreciation day
and I was blessed to hear the nice things said about me and all the
wonderful cards the children made. Please pray for me as I struggle with
this new diet that has actually been making me feel better.
Also, my three girls are now all musicians. Malou is on the
flute, Linda went to the keyboard and Laura is on the Violin, the
guitar and the keyboard.

November 12th, 2010

To every Thing, there is a Season…

Two losses

Solomon pointed out the obvious. Whether we like it or
not, there is a time for everything and we should expect both good and
bad.

Ecc 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Ecc 3:2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

These verses sum up the sad month of September that we had.

As you all know my father was in the hospital due to a
fall and the resulting head trauma. He passed away this week. I know all
have fathers and all will pass but this one was mine and the pain is
with me. I do want to thank all of you for your prayers and support
during this time. I also thank those of you who helped me get to New
York so that I was able to see him before he passed.
So that was Ecc 3:1 A time to die.

The second one was our PBC member Kris Dollette. she
started out as someone I nagged into Church and she budded like a
beautiful flower becoming so highly led in doing the Lord’s work. She
taught children in her home and also in the church and was faithful in
all our doings. Then came Ray Vaughn. I can’t portray him as the bad guy
even though he stole our Kris. He is a wonderful Godly man and I am
proud to know him and if someone should take her (or pluck her up) then I
am glad it is him. They are on the airplane heading to the States as I
write. there is a time for every purpose and each one of these are
ordered by the Lord. We will survive.

lLookin Ahead

We
are looking forward to 14 men who will visit us fron the U.S. on
October 5th. The men are part of the group, ” Men of Integrity”, and
will share with us their musical ability as well as encouraging us in
the word. The kids will also get some gifts.

We also are excited about our upcoming 5th Anniversary
We will have our own Deacon Joel’s former Pastor , Rev Orcales to bring the message that day.
Our theme is a Sure Foundation.

We will also have our friend and supporter Evangelist Fred
Broberg to be with us and he will also bring the word the following day.

For five years now we have been doing all we can to bring the word of God to Payatas.
Thousands have heard the word. That’s what we are supposed to
do. We have many professions but that is not our job. Salvation is of
the Lord.
Payatas is changing for the good each day as we pray
consistently for the Government and as we reach out to the community
helping them in so many ways.
Consider that as you remember us here.

It feels good to be missed

I want to extend my thanks to those of you who cared so much as to help me get to New York for my Pop.

I also want to thank all of you who stuck with me by
praying for my Pop. Just knowing you were with me, helped me get through
this.Your emails and F.B. messages meant so much to me and my family.

Many missionaries have good financial backing and things
like furloughs, vacations and medical treatment are not a concern.

We don’t have such luxuries, From the time we started
this ministry God has worked through our wonderful friends whether it be
a handful of churches or individuals, He has always supplied our needs
through you.

I pray that each and
everyone of you will receive blessings beyond your count for the
generosity and love you have shown to me and my family.

Just like Macarthur, I have returned!

Last month I received word that my Pop had fallen down
his stairs and was in the hospital with severe brain trauma. I was told
not to have high hopes as he probably would not recover. My response was
that he could not die unless it was God’s will.

Some time passed and I was told he woke, responded by
raising two fingers when asked and helped position himself in bed with
the aid of a nurse.

Many good
friends raised the funds for my trip and so I went to New York for a
month. every day I was at the hospital.Little by little he was
improving. By the time I left he was able to sit up in a wheel chair and
they even had him standing a bit.

He is still plagued by his congestive heart and pulminary troubles and
so I will ask you not to forget my Pop and pray for his full and
complete recovery.

The Church is Strong!

I was so proud to know that the men in the Church stepped
up to the plate and took over. They preached, taught and handled the
administrative duties without a problem when I was away.

NEW PROGRAMS TO REACH THE KIDS!

The ladies in our Church have opened their homes to the
children. They are teaching Math, English and Computer science. The
children are doing much better in school because of the teaching.
Here in the Philippines, if the student has at least an 80% average, they will get a free scholarship to college.
Malou is still teaching English language among other subjects.
One of our college bound students wants to be an
accountant so she is being mentored by our own member who is an
accountant. She is learning on the Church books.

MUSIC EDUCATION

We also have two members who are teaching seven of our
children guitar. I proposed that the Church would buy any one of them a
guitar if they could show improvment by playing some songs. Last Sunday
we proudly gave two students each a guitar.

We hope to give more soon.

Linda and Laura are also learning their instruments and
now Malou is also learning the flute. Hmmm, I’m thinking a cello for
me??? Nah!
Anyway, perhaps next year we can have our own in house orchestra.

By teaching the children they are encouraged to stay in
church and to learn the word of God. Music also helps them to focus more
on their studies (a recent report showed)

Our Battles for Justice Continues

MAYNILAD WATER
With
the assistance of our Congressman Castelo, we hopefully will have our
problem of being overcharged (and discrimination against us because we
are a Church) soon ended.

THE BARANGAY

We receive a letter from President Aquino which gave
instruction for the Mayors office to assist in the corruption complaint
against the Barangay hall.

The Church continues to grow stronger and in population.
Our members are strong in Spirit.

Please pray for our upcoming 5th Anniversary which will be held the fist Sunday in November.

HBe careful what you ask for– You just might get it!

I have been hoping to get some time off and to bring my wife
and children to New York. the thought was that my children would get to
see their grandpa and Malou would see her father in law for the very
first time however, that was not meant to be.

I had $9.85 in the Checking account when I got the call. My
Pop was in the hospital. He had fallen down the stairs at home and hit
his head. He had brain trauma and bleeding and they could not release
the pressure because he was on blood thinners and it would have
exacerbated the condition. The situation was related to me as very
possibly fatal and it would be determined by the weekend if all life
support should be stopped.

I however believed that if he was leaving this world he had
to have God’s approval. Although God did not tell me He was healing my
father, he also did not say He was taking him and that was good enough
for me.

I immediately went on line to my friends and those of this
ministry. Within a couple of days the money was raised for travel and a
little for expenses while here.

Just before I left for New York, I got word that my father
woke from his coma (he was still considered in a coma but now on a
different level) they said he helped the nurse to get himself moved up
in the bed and showed two fingers when asked to do so. Everyone was
amazed that it happened. I was overjoyed that I was seeing miracles
happen.

Since then he has been progressively getting better. He
still seems not to know us at times and then it comes to him but he is
responding more and more. I will be staying here until August 17. Please
pray now as the focus is on his heart and respiratory system to get
stronger so that he will be able to breathe and speak on his own.

Thank you for your prayers and your help. Please don’t stop.
As much as the money paid to get me here, it will be the prayers that
cause him to improve.

THE CHURCH REMAINS STRONG

Usually, if I have to miss a
service, I call my Pastor friend and ask if one of his preachers can
fill in for me. This time however, I felt compelled to look within. My
Deacon took over all Wednesday and Sunday evening services and Brother
Benedict took over the Sunday morning services. Now, nothing is done
willy nilly (is that how you spell it?) God is in everything. Just
before I left I spoke to Benedict’s wife that I was going to ask him to
preach. She laughed and said, “Pastor, the other day my husband was
writing and I asked him what he was doing. He said he was preparing a
sermon because Pastor Jack just might ask me to preach.” He did not know
about my leaving. I have been checking in with them and all is going
well like a well oiled machine. I am so glad for their progress and
ability.

THE KIDS

I met with one of the local
Principals just before I left. She was a very nice woman. She is only
limited by the lack of funding from the Government. They need chairs at
the school as well as other items. We have spoke with others also. We
hope to be able to assist the schools to improving their programs and
getting the financial assistance from the Government that they need.
Some of the teachers were not allowing children into the
school as they were saying they had to pay for “lost books”. After we
let them know that it was illegal to do that and also against the DepEd
rules to charge for I.D.’s and such, they let the children return.
We also had one child who was attacked at school and so we
had her session changed. She did not want to return but we convinced her
to go back and she is happy now.

The Violin and the Flute

A couple of weeks ago, Laura
expressed her desire to learn to play the violin. I tried to talk her
out of it by telling her it was the hardest instrument to learn but she
stood fast. We got her a cheap violin and she took her first lesson. By
the end of the lesson she played, Twinkle twinkle and my wife said you
could actually understand what she was playing. The instructor said she
will be fun to teach because she is a quick study.
Linda, decided that she also wanted to play an instrument.
The flute. I read her the riot act and told her that if we get her one,
she needs to commit to learning. she is excited. Now I have to find a
flute. I am told the closed holes with the wrap around “C” is the best
for beginners. Anyone have a spare flute?
Please pray for my kids and also there are about eight
children at the Church who are learning how to play the guitar from two
of our adults.

LAURA AND LINDA’S Schooling

Thank’s to those who helped
Laura and Linda to get their school books this year. They have arrived
and the kids are already working with them. I am so proud of these kids
and home schooling has done so much for them. Of course kudos goes to
Malou who has been their teacher all along.

We are committed to
presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ in every way possible. We do it
with the written word and the spoken word. We do it by feeding those who
have no food and clothing those who have little to wear. We do it by
being the spokespeople of the poor as we speak to injustice with the
utilities or other places. We teach their children and help to get them
to achieve all that they can.
The Bible says :Jas_2:16 And one of you say unto
them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give
them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it
profit?

Pleas continue to pray for our needs.

FIVE YEARS
Next month we will have been here for five years . It’s so hard to believe that we have been gone for so long.

PMO/PBC MISSION

Our mission is going so great as it develops into the vision we had for it when we started .
We have brought the gospel to thousands of people . We have
built a strong Church with 99% of our members knowing how to present the
Gospel and do so on a daily basis.

Life lessons are learned and moral compasses are set.

Here are a couple of examples

Just the other day Our Deacon, Joel Austria was heading to
the doctor to get his back checked out. He had been having pains and
thought perhaps it was a lung or kidney problem. As he was crossing a
foot bridge across the main road he noticed a homeless man down below in
the high grass. He went over to talk to him but the man was incoherent.
Deacon Joel found out from a nearby security guard that the man was
there for two days and although the guard said he had called the
authorities, no one had come to help. Deacon Joel knew that was
unacceptable so he started calling, radio, TV stations, traffic
regulators and anyone else that he could, eventually, the rapid response
team (yes, I laughed also) arrived and they took the man away.

Later our Deacon told me he was not willing to help the man
but remembered what I taught in church which was, if your initial
feeling is to do something and then you find that you are arguing with
yourself about why you should not, just do it as you are arguing with
the Holy Spirit.

Most of the time in real life we do not want to do what is
right. Someone broke down with their car in the rain, A woman carrying
too many groceries and could use help. Yes, it is an inconvenience but
if we all did what was inconvenient, we might find less problems in this
world. Have you ever arrived home to find out that someone helped your
spouse or child? What goes around comes around.

Last week a politician put up a huge sign directly across
from the church, blocking our salvation message we had painted on the
wall.

It was an ad for teaching but there was no contact number and
the sign was filled with photos and names of politicians. It was easy
to see that it was just a blatant attempt at advertising politicians so
I asked Deacon Joel and he went to the Congressman’s office and got him
to remove the sign.

Here in Payatas there are a million things to do to continue
the mission and have it run right. Preaching the Gospel is always first
and foremost and we also preach Jesus by helping the people. Whether we
teach their kids or get them rice or water, we show Jesus in everything
we do.

Developing Children is our main focus here Every Saturday
our class to teach reading is packed. (Please pray for a building which
is much needed)

On Wednesday’s we teach reading. We have children as old as
fourteen who do not know how to read. Children who have slipped through
the cracks because of poverty and corruption. Pray that we may have the
resources to help give them their future back.

Children are being refused admission into the schools because of over crowding.

Our members are meeting the challenge as we now have those
who are teaching Math and computer as well as music. Some of our
children already have learned to play songs on the guitar.

One of our children in church took a test in school and it
was everything my wife had taught him at church. He is confident that he
did well!

We do all we can to be salt and light in this place and we
are still praying for the Payatas Baptist Compound that will house a new
Sanctuary, School building, Medical clinic and more, God willing,it is a
mission of love that will not happen overnight but will take years.

GOOD NEWS

Is
it possible to change an entire Barangy? (County)

Payatas is a
place described as “Hell on Earth”, “Dantes Inferno”
“Land of Garbage” and much more. It is a place completely
under represented by humanitarians. There are no rock stars having
concerts for the poor here. There are no movie stars shining a light
here. When Typhoon Ondoy killed so many and displaced about one
million people (from what were only shacks to begin with), it mostly
made only local news.

This place
is worse than Africa. Oprah and American Idol aren’t here and it is
worse than Haiti yet no one sees it here because unlike Haiti, no one
comes here with cameras.

Perhaps
there is a feeling of defeat because when America left this place
fell apart.

I believe
that Christians should pray for the Government and leaders, as the
Bible says. Since I came here in 2006 I have been doing that. I have
seen improvements in the infrastructure. I have tried to teach my
church to also pray which they are only now starting to do. How much
more we can touch the ear of God if we had many more praying.

This place
could start building new homes and roads. It could plant trees to
help fight the pollution. We could place more Churches to improve
morality. A completely saved Payatas.

It can work.
It can happen. Imagine being part of that?

Are We There Yet?

Do you remember when you were a child going on a trip be it long or short, asking , “Are we there yet?”
In life however, we realize that we are never really there until it is
over and then we will be “THERE”. Our goal here in Payatas is to make
sure that we show everyone their options. How about you? Do you know
where you will end up at the end of your life? The Bible says, ” 1Jn
5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of
the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye
may believe on the name of the Son of God. “
All religions say the Bible is their Guide so why not read it today and you also can know where “there” is.

April was a great month for sharing the word.

Our 2011 V.B.S. was a wonderful success. Our theme was “The Lost World”
where we instilled the word of God and taught the kids to tell others
also. With games and stories , songs and crafts the children were
overwhelmed with fun and excitement. Click here to see the PHOTOS.

This
was followed up by our 2011 Camp Experience at Word of life Camp in
Laguna. The kids went to confrences, played games, went swimming, ate
like horses and praised the Lord as they all got along so well. One of
our Campers won the best camper award given to only one out of hundreds.
This is the second time we won it.

We followed that up with four children asking to be Baptized. See PHOTOS.

And we had a Church outing to a waterfalls in Rizal Province.

All in all we had a very busy month.

GRANT DENIED

We had applied for a grant of $25,000 so that we could buy a van, buy
school supplies for the kids and get more computers to help the children
with college prep and career help. We were turned down. The
organization obviously did not even take the time to see who we were.
They thought we were in the U.S. and they wanted to reach the unreached
as if 97% non Christian wasn’t good enough for them. Anyway, please
continue to pray for God to open doors so we can do more here.

GOOD NEWS

Because of the generosity of a supporter, most of Laura and Linda’s school expenses were met!

We have fed,
clothed, gave medical treatment as well as taught the Children in
VBS, sent them to camp, gave them hope. We are changing lives but
only handfuls at a time. We have support of about $1,200 per month to
run our home and Church. That’s it! We have done much by God’s grace
and could do more if more would get involved.

Please don’t
say you don’t have money. You are rich compared to most of the world.
Many could easily give $5 per month. So many could give $100 or more.

We are in
desperate need of more computers to help prepare the kids for college
and to get them specialized in the jobs in demand here. Most kids
here graduate and stand on line at McDonalds. The majority don’t get
the jobs and go home to prepare for a life of nothing.

Please look
at this video we took. This is where we work. I pray it will touch
your heart that you will join with us.

April showers bring May Flowers

THE PICKERS ARE COMING!

If you take a look at the photo you will see another
white guy here at the Church. His name is Ray Vaughn and no, he did not
come here to join the Church but to take away one of our members.

The gal in front of him is our own Sister Kris whom we
worked so hard to make her a wonderful Church worker and faithful
member. Now Ray has come for her.
They will get married as soon as the application for emigration goes through.

I tried so hard to find something wrong with Ray so I
could get Kris to stay but he actually is a really good guy.

So now I would ask you all to pray that they get married and come back like Malou and I did.

If you look at the lady in the front, that’s Sister Alyce
and if you eremember, I married them not too long ago. She is now
waiting to be reunited with her husband Michael.

Soon, she will be gone also.

We wish them both God’s blessing and we will miss them terribly.

THE KIDS OF PAYATAS

The Kids of payatas
are a lot like your own kids. Thanks to our influence they now have hopes and dreams, just as yours do.
They like to eat three meals a day and who knows? A bag of chips ever so often.
The kids in Payatas don’t go to McDonalds. It’s too
expensive. (Perhaps thats a good thing) They don’t get new clothes but
get donated clothes or buy used clothes for next to nothing.
No Adidas, Nike, Puma. They would not know the names anyway.
Their entertainment is our VBS and camp if we have enough to bring them.
The Kids of Payatas are very grateful for what they have.
They see photos of beautiful houses and manicured lawns
in America and they are happy just to see such beauty. They are not
jealous nor do they think they will ever have such things,
They do wonder sometimes why some have so much while others beg for food.
I wonder about that too.
If you think these kids, who may be the product of a
broken home or a home where there is no income, deserve some help. Hit

THE LOST WORLD”

Today is the first day of our
annual VBS. It looks like it will be the best one yet. With the theme,
“THE LOST WORLD” it will relate how so many in this world have gone away
from God and so many who never heard of Jesus. These kids will learn
much and also have a great time while they do. They will also play games
and have contests!

We expect about 100 kids as that is our limit (we can’t fit any more than that so pray for a building please)

EVANGELISM

We have had consistantly , more than 50 people out doorknocking every week. Many times about 57.
Our people are trained and are excited to spread the good news throughout Payatas.
Thousands have heard the word in this place.
{Pray for more workers as the harvest is white and ready.

APRIL SHOWERS AND FLOWERS?

We have heard that saying
since we were kids and it’s still true today but we should say—IF we
have April showers THEN we will have May flowers.

No matter what it is in life, receiving always has to do with giving.

Suppose you have a large field and in it you plant a few
tomato seeds. Do you really expect to get an entire field of tomatos?

How about if you are always nasty to everyone, do you expect everyone will be nice to you?

If you don’t paint the outside soffits on your house they will eventually rot.

To receive you must give. To get something out you need to put something in.

everyone seems to know that however this rule is a
multiplication rule. If you plant one tomato seed, chances are you will
grow a plant that will give you 5,10, 20 or more tomatoes. That’s
multiplication and if you spend a half of a day painting your soffits
(using good paint) you may get ten or more years out of the wood.

Giving is the same way. No, I am not Benny Hin and I
don’t say if you give to this ministry God will give you a new Porsche
but multiplication is multiplication.

Prove it to yourself. Give to this ministry and see if
your life gets better or not. The Bible says give and it shall be given
unto you and multiplied. (My paraphrase)

If you want love, peace, joy and abundance, start planting those seeds today!

By the way, I heard the States have been getting
torrential rains instead of just showers. I shudder to think what the
vegetation will look like!

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY!

We had a great time yesterday as we had a mock seder and
showed the church the correlation between God saving the Jews out of
Egypt (Egypt representing sin) by the angel of death passing over the
houses that displayed the blood of the lamb on their door posts.
Likewise, we who have asked Jesus into our hearts as Lord and Saviour
and accepted His blood atonement for our sins, it is applied to the
doorposts of our hearts and we are also delivered from death and into
life eternal.
We had a lot of fun and at the end celebrated communion.

SUMMER CAMP

Summer Camp starts on May 9th and let me again say thank you so much on behalf of the kids, for sending them.
Your generosity is and will make a huge difference in the lives of these kids and will continue to multiply outward.

SCHOOL TIME!

As your summer comes to an
end ours is just beginning. As you know our Laura is home schooled as
now is our little Linda. We will need to raise about $500 for the both
of their school material for the year.
Laura, only nine, is going into the sixth grade and Linda
was able to do the first grade with some old books but will need new
ones this year as she goes into the 2nd grade at age 5.
Please mark your contribution to the Wilson kids education fund.

Time to Breathe fresh!

Although my early life may not have been in fancy
living, when you see how some of the children live here, it’s beyond
words.

Yes, this is a real “house” Imagine waking up to see a
rat run away and not knowing if he was crawling on you or your children?

ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A FIFTH GRADER?

Did anyone see the million dollar winner?
As I watched the show I saw this school supervisor
declare that anything she won would go to three educational areas for
the deaf. she was not a movie star but just a wonderfully, kind hearted
women. I believed she was going to be the first person to win. In my
heart, I felt it because of her generosity.
AND THEN SHE WON!
How about you? Do you want to be a winner? Than please
help those who can not help themselves.As you give, God notices.

VBS

Once again we look forward to 100 happy children.
(As you can see, we ask you to also pray for our vision to bulid here in Payatas so that we can reach out to thousands more.)

We have just added another family of four to our membership. Pray for more room!

I remember like it was yesterday. I was nine years old
and had walked down the stairs where I lived and out onto the street. As
I opened the door the warm sunlight brushed my face and I could see the
shadows of the new green buds on the trees, about to burst into a full
foliage. Life was good.

My parents had taken us out of the ghetto where our rent
was $45 per month, into a nice quiet neighborhood where it cost $93.15
per month.
As I had hope for the summer, Pop was pondering how he was going to make up the huge difference in the budget.

My father for most of his life, worked in a factory at
the night shift. Rain shine, sleet or sickness, he went to make sure we
felt the sunshine on our face and had an opportunity to go to a good
school and suceed in the future.

I think of the fathers here who want to do the same
thing. they are not afraid to work hard but there is nothing. How they
look at their children as labor to help the family survive even as young
as five years old. How many do not go to school because their efforts
collecting garbage can help the family eat and I plead, where is their
hope?

That’s why I came here. To try to give them that hope.

SEND A POOR KID TO CAMP

In the beginning of April, I would like to send 65 kids
to camp. Initially I thought it would cost $1,500.00 and now we find out
there is no 1 free for each two registered as previous years and also
because of the price of fuel the bus now costs 50% more. The devil
doesn’t want these children to get any of that hope.

We have collected $788.77 which is almost half. This
camp experience does make a difference in the lives of these kids. I
wish you could be here to see it.

So with new calculations it will be about $27 per child
to send them to camp for four days and nights. $27 to give them renewed
or fresh hope so that they can meet the new school year ( which begins
in June here) with the idea that they can learn and grow and flourish.

Vacation Bible School

We are gearing up for our fifth and hopefully best VBS yet.
We
have great teachers who have been training for the event. Our cooks are
ready to feed the 100 or so children who will be attending and all of
our people are ready to present Christ in a loving way through teaching,
counseling, games, feeding and plenty of fun.
Please pray for the hearts of these 100 children to come to know Jesus.

We don’t have rock or movie stars or politicians to
publicize the need on TV and to raise millions to help this dreadful
place. We do have you and whether you can afford to send $5 or $5
million, we ask you to send it NOW. Please don’t put it off. Become a
faithful supporter to help these kids have a spiritually and physically
fulfilled life.
