September Update 2009

THREE YEARS! This past July 21st marks three years that we have been here in Payatas. Looking back we wanted to see if we achieved the goals we set for ourselves. The answer was a resounding YES! God has caused us to be part of a great mission. When there was so much against us (and still is) God has led us to victory time and time again. Come see our new Website! The Children are our future. Yet they are hungry, and they need to go to school which means school supplies and clothes and meals. They need so much but resources are low. Some children in the third world simply do not go to school because of these problems that the first world does not have. So what will become of them? They will perpetuate the cycle of ingnorance and poverty in this place. We are trying to get some projects sponsored so these kids may thrive and have a chance at a real future. Please help us to stop the cycle of poverty. Please click here to see the projects that can use your support What is the Church?   We already know that the Church is the base of operations in which we reach out to those outside the Church compelling them to come in. (Luk 14:23) Yet the Church is so much more for they who will inherit salvation. We have young people who love to fellowship even with the old people. The older children watch out and guide the younger ones. Some of our youth are now learning to play the organ and guitar and did I mention? Pastor Jun plays the organ for us now at the Church. What a blessing. One of our children, Don Don age 6, had an infection in his face that was so serious, it required him to go to the hospital and he was there   eighteen days. His mom, Christie, slept there with him and she also spread the gospel to other patients, nurses, doctors and visitors. God used that situation and Sister Christie to lead seven people to receive the Lord in that place. Our people are learning that when you have a problem, sometimes it is for testing to show yourself faithful. Christie passed that test with flying colors. Our youth share the Lord to their classmates at school and our very young are learning good morals. One of our ladies just passed her personal trial on how to submit to her husband! It’s been a long battle but she is happy for the victory. Now we need the men to learn how to treat their wife well and put her on a pedestal. The church is our home. It is part of our daily life. We thank God for this place. Morningstar School Refurbishing  We were able to raise $23.00 (for 5 gallons of paint) for our new project. As we spoke about last week, we are endeavoring to fix up the Morningstar school which was recently take over by our own Sunday School Superintendent, Ave Delacruz. Please pray as this school takes shape and increases it’s outreach to the community as it increases its enrollment Do you need prayer? Please send me your requests. I would love to pray for you. Pastor Jack    Meet Pearl   Pearl is very special to me. She and her her husband; Francis, (background) always have a positive outlook and a big smile. They love the Lord and His Church, door knocking and all the activities. Pearl isn’t able to come much anymore. Pearl is diagnosed with breast cancer. She spends her time going with my wife or some other lady in the Church to find a government agency that will pay for her treatment. She just was told that chemo is not working. She now will undergo radiation. I would ask each and every one of you to pray for Pearl, her husband and their daughter Princess. It’s hard enough to endure cancer but even harder when you have to find a way to get your own treatment.   SAVE PAYATAS! Our new Church website is finished. As we approach the third year here we have even a greater need than before. Forward this email to a friend ___________________ Blessings: We have received more Bibles through the generosity of Beams Bibles. All those receiving Bibles have memorized the sixty six books! _____________________ We have been having Baptisms for the past three weeks and a neighbor church used our baptistry to baptize one of their people. What a blessing to be a blessing! ___ _________________ After Church on Sunday the doors are open until the end of the evening service. Many members stay and play board games, share food and enjoy the day of fellowship together. The two things that make a Church strong: Faith in Jesus Christ and the love of the brethren. ________________ Rainy Days in the Philippines Here in the Philippines we do not get four seasons. We get what the locals call “Rainy Days” and “Sunny Days”  During the rainy season there can be some violent storms or Typhoons and they can be devastating. This month, we started to get some Typhoons. Our rainy days consisted of  some people trying to tear up what God had laid down. One couple who had been with us from the beginning were sowing seeds of  discord among the brethren for three years.They were reprimanded twice before. I thought we were in for a major split but after giving it all to the Lord, Sunday morning came, they were gone and we actually had more people than ever before! We all have had many challenges this month as we pray that God gives us strength to serve Him. He is exercizing our faith and it is working for the good of the Church. Pray for us during these trying times that we fail not but continue to grow in grace. ___________________________ Our New Website Keep checking our old website: http//www.payatasbaptistchurch.org as it is undergoing a complete makeover. It is just about ready to be published and the change is wonderful. It will be easier to navigate. She immediately made sure that God was well represented through out the school. She named and decorated each classroom after a disciple and the teachers all have morning devotions prior to starting classes. Our Church will be volunteering at the school for various activities/bible teaching. _____________________________________ PBC NEEDS YOU NOW! If you think it is tough these days imagine living in a third world Country! Please allow God to use you to help us to: SAVE PAYATAS! We are a reflection of those of you who have chosen to support this ministry and also, of those of you who have refused. Not everyone is called to give to a particular ministry but if God calls, respond and He will bless you for blessing others. Although our resources are low, we use what we have to help others. We were able to pay some book fines to get a couple of kids back into school while others in our Church bought school supplies for some children who could not afford it. It is such a blessing to see those who have so little, attempt to bless those who have even less.   We are like one of the Macedonian Churches.

Reaching Kids For Christ

Camp 2009-The best one yet!

They swam, zipped,was involved in contests, had singalongs and was taught in the word as many had their lives changed. As I get time, I will add more letters to the site but one letter in particular summed it up when the young boy said he had plenty of food and it was so peaceful to sleep. This was probably his first encounter with fifteen straight meals and a real bed.  May God bless all of you who helped to make this happen.

V.B.S. – 2009 Another P.B.C. Victory!

Usually we have our VBS supplies months before we hold it, this year we only had a couple of weeks to prepare and we had camp in the middle.

Payatas Quezon City Baptist Church and Ministries, Inc., is a direct result of the missionary efforts of the Bethel Baptist Church in Harbor City, California Pastor Rudy Abrot and Payatas Mission Outreach, Inc. an American based Corporation which holds a 501C3, non-profit status. These efforts are achieved by the generosity of our supporters.
We are located in the area of the infamous Payatas dump site. The dump site has thousands of people who need the help and support of a good Christian Church. Should you decide to support this ministry either by ongoing, one time or occasional support,we would like you to know that all gifts are tax deductible for American donors.

PBC is ready to EXPLODE!

Our services are over crowded. We are packed in like sardines.

Please pray that we can get a larger building. I am convinced that however large a building we get, God will fill it!

The need is so great here. With a large building we could:

• have a feeding program six days a week, each day
• presenting the Gospel.
• Have another medical clinic
• Have an after school tutoring program
• Have  livlihood programs
• and of course have a larger place to worship.

We have applied for grants but it seems those with the money are giving only to the large ministries. Pray that someone will be moved to help us to:

What Have you been doing?

We are all part of the body of Christ. Each and everytime you support this mission in Prayer and finances it is the same as being here yourself.

Jesus says what you do, you do for Me.

Believe it or not I sit here sometimes wondering how you all are doing. I know it is a difficult time right now in the States but God is good and we always come through it shining.

As I began to think what you were doing I thought about how your help with this ministry has affected us. I don’t say that lightly. Because of you we eat, we have a place to live, clothes on our back. It is because of you that this ministry operates and so; vicariously, any thing we do is by your hand.

I wish you could all come and visit us here and see first hand what you are doing but in the meantime, please accept our sincere thanks for being our partners and doing the things that you do. May God bless you, your families, in every good thing that you do.

It’s Time For Camp! YOU ARE SENDING 75 KIDS & COUNSELORS TO CAMP!

In a matter of just a few days, you are sending 75 kids and counselors to camp. Although you may think these kids will have a ball, and they will, it’s so much more than that. For some, it will be the first time they slept in a real bed, swam in a real pool, ate 15 meals in a row without missing one. They hear the word of God and in many cases it changes their lives forever.

All this and more. What you have done will stay with these kids for life.

You are holding a V.B.S. with over 100 Kids!

Each year you have a v.b.s. and had over 100 kids. This year (May 18-23 ) will be another time that you provide biblical themes, arts, crafts, instruction in righteousness. These times effect both children and parents. We are sure you will have another great time this year.

You are reaching 100’s every week in our medical clinic!

Our medical clinic ( God’s Grace Medical Assistance, Inc. [http:www.godsgracemedical.org] ) has been reaching out and touching our community of Payatas by not only bringing them free doctor services and the lowest cost medicines but providing them with the Gospel so that 100’s are hearing the word every week thanks to you.

Signs of Growth

Our youth and teen population is exploding. Our adults are increasing every week. Today there was not one place to sit as all the seats were filled and we had people fill the staircase and sit on the floor.

This is what you do. You have built a vibrant Church here in the Payatas that is reaching out to the community. We thank you for all you do and we pray you will continue with us as God expands our coasts.

It is a very short time that we have to prepare but we believe God will cause us to have the best V.B.S. yet!

We just received a letter from them that if they don’t get it within 30 days, Laura will be placed on the inactive roll.

PRAY FOR YOUR MISSIONARIES!

WE NOW HAVE A YOUTH PASTOR!

Pastor Jun Madridano and his wife Clarence, have joined with us here at PBC. Pastor Jun will have the responsibility of being our Youth Pastor.

There is a story involved with this. We will give Ptr Jun 1500p per month for his rent. I did not know where the funds would come from only that the Lord said to do it. That same day we received an email from one of our partners saying they just increased our support. How much? 1500p per month.

We don’t believe in luck, happenstance, accident or coincidence. We only believe that God is in control.

SEND A KID TO CAMP!

We have been trying to raise money for 75 of Payatas poor children to go to Camp. So far we have raised $705!

After doing some serious numbers crunching, we will need to raise about $1,400.00. It seems the transportation is very high. We also want to give each camper a new t shirt and snacks for the week as the rest of the campers get.

God has been adding to our Church, We been baptising on a regular basis and we have been spreading the Gospel all over the Payatas. Please join with us with prayers and finances. PRAY FOR PAYATAS

We were given 65 bags which contained in each one, a pair of sneakers, a pair of shorts and a shirt and we cheerfully handed them out to the poor kids in our area. Something so simple to us is like Christmas to these kids. They have so little.

Malou along with some other ladies, put on a Teacher�s Seminar to prepare somewhere around 200 teachers for the classroom. It turned out to be a blessing to all who attended. I had the honor of speaking at one of the meetings.

God is so good as you can read in any of our monthly updates however if you notice, He never hands us anything personally. He always uses others. Why? So others can be blessed by sharing in the work.

With that said, we will ask you to help us where you are able and above all, please pray for the following needs.

1- We have a fund raiser going on now on Facebook. I hope this link will work: Save the Payatas Kids! If you go there, you will be able to help send a child to Christian Camp for four nights and five days. We have sent the children these last two years and it has made such a difference in their lives. This year we would pray to raise $1000 so we can send fifty kids. Twenty dollars each provides the camp, snacks while there and the transportation. Won�t you go there and pledge to send at least one child? If you leave your name and address, we will have the child write you when he gets back to tell you how you have helped him. 2- Every year we have paid only about 350 pesos and have received training and materials to put on some really wonderful Vacation Bible Schools. This year it has been delayed because of the economy. Pray that we will be able to get the materials and put on the VBS. Last year we had over 100 children. 3- My daughter Laura has finished the third grade and needs to start the fourth. Although the A.C.E. program, through donors, pays for the basic books, they do not pay for special books, shipping, registration and customs. All that comes to $300. They will not let Laura start school without the funds. Please pray. 4- Pray for all the grant requests we sent out. We are looking to build and are praying some generous foundation will help us to do that.

God has been blessing us with new souls being saved on a daily basis. We will be having another baptism ceremony this coming Sunday.

We are doing the best we are able to do. Pray for our strength, encouragement and funding. Thanks to all of you who have been more than generous to this ministry. Your hand is with ours as we plow together.
