February 2, 2015There are certain types of denominations that emphasis faith in our lives.
Ordinarily, faith is a good thing but the type of faith they encourage is “unbelievable faith.”
Mat 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
This is a good exercise to see if you have unbelievable faith.
Walk up to a mountain, any mountain and say, get up and jump into the sea. What happened? I bet nothing. Maybe you said it wrong. Try again using the exact phrase: Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea
Still nothing? Perhaps Greek? Aramaic? Still no?
Some people will tell you that you are poor because you have no faith. That you are sick because of the same reason. If only there was a way to figure out how to have so much faith maybe my parents would never had died.
What? That sounds strange. Everyone over 125 years old is dead. Does that means faith dies as you get older?
Of course not. The faith of which Jesus was speaking was faith that He gives and not your own presumptous “faith” that you force yourself to accept.
Example: Someone in Church drops dead on the floor. You feel God speaking to you to go over and pray that he will revive. You do and he does. Why? You acted on faith.
Now, the same situation, you go over and pray the man revives and he does not.
Huh? Why not. You had no faith.
Sure I did. I knew Jesus could do it and even though I felt strange, a little nervous, I stood by faith and told him to rise.
That was not God’s faith, it was your misguided intentions.
When Elijah called fire from heaven to devour the sacrifice he did not first muse that he would prove God’s existence by calling for a stampede of camels or a torrential down pour. Just like Moses with the plagues, God had already told him what to do. Call fire down.
When he did he was displaying the faith God had given to him.
The truth is, you can not move a mountain, raise the dead or even cure the common cold unless God puts His faith in your heart.
People calling out, “By His stripes we are healed” and then wondering why the person did not get healed are deluding themselves. BTW. That phrase means our sins are healed and we are restored to a relationship with God. It does not mean Jesus died for our ingrown toe.
I spent a lot of time in my younger years trying to figure out this faith. “I believe, put one million dollars on the floor in front of me” –I believe, stop my neighbors dog from barking.”
It is not by our will but by the will of God. We can pray for things but in the end, our Father’s plan will not be interrupted.
Will He grant our requests? He is not a genie but if we pray, according to Mat 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Be careful. David asked God to give him the desires of his heart. Not that God would give him a new car and a house but that God would put His desires in David’s heart so that when David prayed, he was asking for the same desires as God, he believed he would receive them, and he did.
You know darn well you can walk up to that mountain but in your heart of hearts you will never really believe it will move and if you do, God put that belief there and it will move!
Can you move mountains?
Mar 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
