April 2, 2015From the beginning of the Bible, the poor are mentioned. Over two hundred times the word poor is used. Is God unaware of this seemingly tragic situation?
Exo 22:25 If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.
Sure He is. As you can see in this verse that He talks about the poor of HIS people. He speaks about lending to them and not to charge them interest.
With all this, couldn’t God just bless them and make them rich or is being poor part of the plan of God?
1Sa 2:7 The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.
What? God maketh the poor? Yes, for his own purposes. Paul said in Corinthians that God made some poor and some rich. He made the rich to bless the poor so in turn the rich would be blessed.
We have all heard it is better to give than to receive. So it is better to be the giver , knowing you have it to give, than to be the receiver.
God blesses the poor with gifts from the rich and the rich get blessed by the giving.
It’s a simple concept.
I taught one day on how that God brought the foreign army against Israel. They encompassed the land. Then God gave Israel the power to turn them back.
God brought the Army to Israel. Why? My only thoughts are so that Israel will show faith and see the glory of God.
As for Justice
Exo 23:6 Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause.
What this means is do not try to subvert the poor man’s cause because he is poor.
I can’t stop thinking of those who are fighting against raising the minimum wage. Even “Christians” who protest that the minimum wage is not to be a livable wage.
What should it be? A dying wage? Should a person who works hard all week not be able to buy food or pay for the rent?
Surely, these people do not realize that their Father in heaven beholds them daily.
Pro 29:7 The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.
It is time to be used of the Lord. To give to His work. To help the poor and needy. As many have all the luxuries they are able to amass, how much effort goes in to taking care of the poor as the Lord commanded.
My conscious is clear. Is yours?
