February 2, 2015Why do Baptists Argue?
February 27, 2015Put on your thinking caps now and before you jump up and walk out the door, give what I am saying some thought. Although, after reading this you might say that you should not listen to me either so read on and make your own decisions.
This is what I propose.
STOP READING RELIGIOUS BOOKS
STOP WATCHING RELIGIOUS TV
STOP WATCHING INTERNET “PREACHERS”
Wow! That is a lot to handle now let me tell you why. These people are one way people. They tell you their ideas, thoughts, summaries and you have no recourse to return the dialog.
When is the last time you prayed with an author of a book you used to guide your life?
(If you answered God , you win otherwise – ehhhhh! No Good!)
When is the last time you questioned them, asked for Godly counseling, had them disciple or discipline you.
Never!
Why? They can’t do that.
No, if you want to argue with me, I only accept Biblical arguments.
Here is mine:
Eph 4:11 And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Eph 4:12 for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ:
Eph 4:13 till we all attain unto the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a full grown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Let me put this simple. The Apostles were taught the doctrines of Christ by Christ and we were taught the doctrines of the Apostles. We were never taught the doctrines of Billy Graham who sent new converts to catholic priests or the doctrine of Martin Luther King Jr who did not believe in the physical resurrection of Christ.
I tried this in church the other day. I whispered a message in the ear of one of my members and they did the same to whoever was sitting next to them. By the time it was done, the message was completely different.
So, what is your point you may ask?
When we study the bible directly, we are not filling our heads with other peoples
thoughts. We only get the pure truth with no mistakes.
Here is an example from the Bible. This is prophecy:Rev 6:14 And the heaven was removed as a scroll when it is rolled up; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
Today, because we know more, we understand that this is a result of nuclear bombs however to those who did not know, it was described as such:
Revelation 6:14
And the heaven departed as a scroll – The whole system of pagan and idolatrous worship, with all its spiritual, secular, and superstitious influence, was blasted, shrivelled up, and rendered null and void, as a parchment scroll when exposed to the action of a strong fire.
And every mountain – All the props, supports, and dependencies of the empire, whether regal allies, tributary kings, dependent colonies, or mercenary troops, were all moved out of their places, so as to stand no longer in the same relation to that empire, and its worship, support, and maintenance, as they formerly did.
And island – The heathen temples, with their precincts and enclosures, cut off from the common people, and into which none could come but the privileged, may be here represented by islands, for the same reasons.
So, a respected man such as Gill just misrepresented the Bible and misinterpreted this. Of course we can’t blame him for not knowing but can’t we blame him for not having the Spirit of God on that? He made all that up in his mind and now someone else puts it in their head and believes it.
Not true with having the Apostles and other Biblical writers teach you. When you get to the part you don’t understand you, like Daniel ask God to tell you. He might tell you or like when He said to Daniel, just write it down it is not for you to know at this time. Finished. No stories.
Okay, I get it now (you might say) but who do we listen to? Should we not have teachers and Pastors?
Of course you do. First pray and ask God to direct you to a good Church. Then listen carefully to him and also study your Bible. If he says something that doesn’t seem correct, go right to prayer and your Bible. Here is an example: He might tell you it never rained on the earth until after Noah neither was there snow. You might think that’s crazy but when you do the research, you find him to be correct. Now he might say on the 3rd day God created the light. It does not seem right so you do the research. You find that the light was created on the first day, you tell him and he does one of two things, he corrects himself to the congregation or he doesn’t. If he doesn’t, find a new Church.
Believe me, if I was in the room with most of you I could convince you of many untruths (not that I would) but when you sit at that computer or TV you are accepting the words of someone like Martin or Billy who are respected by millions and may be feeding you lies. Even 99% truth with 1% lie will corrupt you.
By the way, if you read a book on how a Pastor built a multimillion dollar Church and you follow all his instructions, you still won’t build it. God deals with each person individually and how he guides you may not be the same way as someone else.
So, in the beginning I said you might not want to believe me either.
Unless I am your Pastor and we have a trusted relationship—DON’T. Prove my words and search the Bible. Just don’t ask some TV guy because he may be wrong.
