| You need to ask yourself the question. Do I worship Satan or do I worship God? That is a very confrontational statement, but it needs to be asked. First, let’s work to define what is true. The word “worship” comes from “worth ship”. To worship something is to prize it above everything else. To honor it as the thing you spend your time on as the highest importance and to act accordingly. Anything can be worshiped. So if you drink more than you should – that’s worship. If you smoke, that worship. If you spend your time watching football instead of attending Church services, that’s worship. We try to talk ourselves into believing we are okay. “I don’t drink too much” Smoking doesn’t harm me, I don’t even wheeze.” (That was my mom’s story, then she died of lung cancer) “God understands, I need football to relax me” (Nothing relaxes more than being in Church. There is one coming up this month. Halloween! The most protected holiday of the year. How many church members send their children out dressed in costumes of devils, skeletons, etc.? Even if they dress as Cowboys and Princesses, they take part in pagan worship. There are alternatives such as having a harvest party at your Church or at home. Religious beliefs: Halloween has its roots in Celtic and Christian traditions, which some individuals or groups may not practice or adhere to. For example, some Christians believe that Halloween is associated with paganism and witchcraft, and they prefer to celebrate other religious holidays instead. Concerns about safety: Halloween can be a time when children and adults engage in risky behaviors, such as trick-or-treating in unfamiliar neighborhoods or consuming excessive amounts of candy. There have also been reports of Halloween pranks escalating into vandalism or worse. It promotes fear and violence: Halloween is often associated with themes of fear, violence, and the macabre, which some people may find disturbing or unhealthy, especially for children. The emphasis on horror and gore may be seen as promoting or desensitizing children to these themes. Superstitions and traditions: Some individuals may not want to participate in Halloween superstitions, such as the belief that ghosts and spirits are more active on this night, or they may object to the idea of “trick-or-treat,” which can be seen as coercive or manipulative. Let’s think about what we do and why we do it. Here is another holiday this month – Thanksgiving. It’s a day that we focus on thanking God for what He has done for us. Let’s give Thanksgiving our full attention and Worship God as we should.
WE ARE SO THANKFUL! Our educational fundraiser has met its goal! We were able to pay everyone’s college expenses and have left over for next semester. We are so grateful to our supporters, not only for their funds but for their love and prayers. God bless you all. Click to see
WHAT’S NEXT? Christmas, of course. Here in the Philippines, people start Christmas in the ber months. (September, October, November & December) So we are preparing once again for our 100 children’s Christmas celebration. This year we are only inviting the faithful children and new children as opposed to those who only show up at celebration time. They will get a shirt, pants or skirt, footwear, a Christmas dinner with dessert, a toy along with games and prizes. The most important thing is that we spend time incorporating the Gospel into our lessons and even the games. See how we do it OUR NEEDS AT PBC #1 We need more supporters. My Social security used to be enough to offset inflation. No more. Our personal needs such as food and medical expenses are making it hard to survive. Going out to dinner, the movies, or buying new clothes are not an option with our income. Pastors get a salary. Even here. However, I haven’t had one in all the almost 18 years we have been here. How many missionaries actually pay for their own ministry? I am not complaining, just asking for more support. #2 We will need to raise $1,000 for our children’s Christmas celebration. It has been through this particular ministry that we get new kids into our program. God will supply our needs. Understand this. He does it by using others. If God has spoken to you, please respond.
