Susan, This is a sign of the times in which we live. Your mom should make her voice heard and if they do not listen, ask God to show her a better Church.
I am praying for her.

Idolatry by any other name is still idolatry. This pendant is becoming the scourge of many churches here in the Philippines. Ignorance on the dynamic and nature of sin is at the bottom of it, I believe. Thanks for the expose!

Dear Pastor Jack,

I cannot offer you much in terms of monetary support. I left a career in financial services a year ago mainly because I believe God is calling me to do something else with my life. After spending many hours in prayer, I believe he wants me to use my gift of writing to spread his message and help his people.

I learned of the plight of the people of Payata at a social justice meeting I attended as part of a Just Faith journey. I am required and looking forward to immersion experiences to share God's word of hope and salvation.

I am only a few months into this journey of writing. All my pieces with the exception of one have been self published. So I can't promise much.

Nonetheless, I would like to know if you would be interested in speaking to me about your work, the people of Payata, and what has changed since the tragedy of 2000.

If you would like, I could forward some of my writing to you in order to assess whether or not this would be worth your time.

If you would like to put me in contact with one of your a staff members, I would welcome that, too.

I imagine you are very busy, so I appreciate your attention to this.

God bless.

Respectfully,

Robert Watkins

I have a christian friend who says he was 'healed' by this pendant. He says he needs it, but, doesn't trust it as this would be idolatry! How can such nonsense be acceptable to a Bible School Dean? Only in the Philippines? Well, that's one way to look at it.

Another way is this. My friend is deceived, and was 'healed' by Satan. Satan can 'heal people if he has a more sinister purpose for doing so.

Please pray for this man as he is teaching others this blasphemy.

Hi Pastor Jack!
Your blog post was posted with unique timing :) I have this idea that, for my 30th birthday, I want to do a charity run - to try to get people to donate for running. Thoughts are very much in the beginning stages, but I was currently looking around for a charity that is trying to get clean water to an area in need - and today I came across your blog! I want to try to get some of my family to donate money to help with your program. Do you have some sort of "press kit" with the basic information on who you are and what you are doing, so that I can share with my family? I will link to your site as well, but just curious what you may have already!

Take a look at our websites: http://www.payatasmissionoutreach.org http://www.payatasbaptistchurch.org http://www.savepayatas.org and http://multiply.com/mail/updates/escobia225/5
We are not a large organization. We are not salaried. There (so far still praying) is no car, no Church bus and we need larger quarters for our people.
We use whatever we get to make a difference and we do make a difference. If we had more, we'd make more. Not Corporate salaries but differences in the people of Payatas lives.
Perhaps you can invent the perfect dietary unit that could be distributed at low cost or get others to sponsor it so we could feed Payatas.
If you want to donate, that always works, you can go here to see how:http://www.payatasmissionoutreach.org/donation.asp

"My hope is to find an organization that I can trust..." That's right. There are many that can't be trusted. We have many references. On our Church web page we have "Updates" which is a monthly diary since we started in 2006 to the present. The photo site (above) documents everything we have done using over 5000 photos.

Thanks for writing Katie. Please tell your friends.
