It's that time again-(Time to vote)

The strangest time in Payatas is when there is an election. Even though the local government issued orders that ads; in the form of bill boards and panaflex cannot be displayed on major roads.

It is almost like every political candidate took that to be the opportunity to disobey the law. It makes one wonder, why vote for these people if they are only goingto do what pleases them and not do according to the law?

I would suggest voting for the person who displays no banners. After all the Bible teaches : Pro 27:2  Let another man praise thee,and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

Mike Defensor must have lots of money as he is the greatest offender.

Three times I had to stop a truck load of men armed with a ladder and tons of signs from putting his sign in front of my Church. After all, I would not like anyone think I support him as a candidate or anyone else.

I spoke to someone in Quezon City government (who's relative is running for Mayor) the other day and told them that we have been trying to get a simple waiting shed erected across the street for over two years. It had been submitted and even designed by the city engineers. He explained that it might even take two more years or more. I said to him, why would we vote for your relative? He has no power. If you can't get a simple waiting shed constructed, how could you help the people in Payatas?

I recently went to a meeting of Christians that were trying to push a particular party. I believe in this. I believe it is scriptural to put up some Godly men and through prayer and perhaps fasting we ask God to put them in office. It seemed however many (not all but many) seemed to think that banding together would get the job done. With 3% of 87 million people actually being Christian I don?t think our power will bring us anywhere. God's power, on the other hand,could be awesome.

Every year people listen to these politicians. Two years ago a woman came up to me with her entourage and asked me to convince my members to vote for her. I laughed. I said who are you? She gave me her name. I said where have you been? She didn't understand the question. I said I have been out in these streets meeting the people and trying to do good for them every week for a couple of years. I asked her again, where have you been? She said she wasn't running for office then. I laughed again. She was campaigning for a job. She did not care about the people. She wanted to be in the political system. If she really cared about these people you need to know them. You need to give yourself for them.

The Biblical way is shown to us in the book of Acts.

When there arose a problem concerning the administration of food  and other needed items the Apostles said: Act 6:3  Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Act 6:4  But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

It's a Biblical process people. Look around you for some Godly men. Don't look for the suits and ties that give you a bag of groceries just before the election. Look for people in the church and neighbors, the ones who are always helping others. These are the ones who will care for you.
