Title: Do We Really Believe What God Says?
Date: June 2007

And Elijah came unto all the people, and said.

How long halt ye between two opinions? If the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

Elijah was asking the backsliders, when will you make a stand? If you believe God than follow Him but if not, follow Baal but do something.

I was perusing the internet and I ran across some missionaries who wrote some reports on their ministries. One of the things that struck me was that most of them were complaining that their people were getting jobs and not coming to Church.

I remember years ago, I was applying for a very nice job to manage two co-op buildings in New York City. The money was great, the job was fantastic and I had impressed the Superintendent with my qualifications. The Job was mine. He told me that my hours were 8am to 4pm Sunday to Thursday. When he said that, I stood up, apologized for taking his time and turned down the job.

Even though I had a wife and child to take care of and I was out of work. I told him that I went to Church on Sunday and would not be able to work there.

He immediately told me that he would work it out and I would have Sundays off.

That was my test. Did I trust God or did I look to the situation.

Ah! Baal looked good. (The money that is) but if I took the Job under those conditions I would be telling God I did not trust Him.
I dont believe that God will put us in a position that will keep us from His house.

Did you ever notice that whenever something important has to be done its on a Sunday or a Wednesday evening?

There are so many promises in the Bible. Heb. 13:5 I will not leave thee or forsake thee, Luk 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. I can go on forever. The bottom line is this. Our lives belong to God. We can not accomplish anything better by doing it our own way so we need to give Him our complete trust. Then we will be able to say as the psalmist, in Psa 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
